1999 Dodge Intrepid Base 2.7

Faults:

I bought the car from an independant dealer. When I bought the car the windows all worked. With in 1 week the 2 rear windows stopped working. I took it back to the dealer I bought it from, and they said "The seals are sticking" they fixed the problem temporarily. A couple days later the rear windows stopped working again. I took it to a local 5-star Dodge dealer. Without even looking at the car they told me that I would need new motors for the rear window. I decided not to fix it. A year later someone told me to hold down the switch and slam the door. I did this with both windows and I fixed the problem myself. To make a long story short, try holding down the switch and slamming the door. It worked for me and I haven't had any problems since.

The only other problem that I have had is at 60,000 miles the heater switch went out, and the blower only worked on high. I had it fixed at a 5-star dealer for a cost of $150 labor and parts. Now with 75,000 miles, the same problem has occured. I am not in too big of a hurry to fix it again.

Dodge logo fell off during a car wash at 68,000 miles.

Other than that and regular maintenance the car has been very dependable and a good family vehicle.

General Comments:

1999 Dodge Intrepid Base 2.7

Summary:

Verry reliable, large and confortable car so far

Faults:

Driver window not working when freezing temperatures.

General Comments:

This car gave me no problems so far. The engine is running exactly the same like when I bought it, three years ago.

I have changed tires at 90k kilometers, still good shape for another 10-15k, transmission fluid replaced at 105k kilometers, nothing else has to be replaced, beside regular oil and oil filters changes, air filters.

After reading the survey's on this cars, I ask myself, it was a good decision to buy this car, I should keep it or get rid of it?

Get rid of it while you can.

1999 Dodge Intrepid SE 2.7 Liter

Summary:

Nice vehicle with average maintenance/repair costs

Faults:

-Three weeks after purchasing the Intrepid, one of the input sensors for the transmission blew. The 99 Intrepid's transmission is electronically controlled, so this was a huge problem. Cost just under $200 to fix it (not to mention rental fees).

-Interior lights occasionally do not turn off.

-At 40,000 miles, the thermostat failed. Replaced it on my own. Part was $12.90.

-At 45,000 miles, the radiator began to leak. Used one of those Stop-Leak in a can products. Seemed to work. I'm waiting for the other foot to fall.

General Comments:

I actually really like this car. Stylish, roomy, large trunk, easy controls, handles well, comfortable, good acceleration.

I didn't purchase a the extended warranty, I recommend that anyone looking to purchase an Intrepid get the warranty just in case.

1999 Dodge Intrepid ES 2.7

Summary:

An excellent car for the money

Faults:

Shortly after I got the car, an oil leak developed because of a loose connection. It was fixed easily with no future problems.

I've had to replace outer tie rod ends a few times, covered by extended warranty until recently.

The electric fuel pump quit working a few months ago and was replaced under the extended warranty.

The front brake rotors have had to be replaced several times, and I just recently replaced the rear rotors and pads.

General Comments:

This car is very solid on the road, and handles extremely well in all kinds of weather.

Interior room is awesome.

The 2.7 motor is very economical on the highway, but uses too much gas around town.
