1995 Eagle Vision ESI 3.3L

Summary:

Not much engineering for your money

Faults:

Automatic transmission locked up in second gear while driving home after purchase. Diagnosis showed 4 fatal codes. Cost to rebuild: $1845.

Tie rod ends, lower control arms and sway bar bushing all shot and in need of replacement. Chrysler dealer's estimate to repair: $1215 (at $70/hr labor).

Dealer mechanic spotted head gasket leaking coolant; rear main bearing oil leak; timing cover gasket leak.

General Comments:

The trans-axle in this is car has to be one of the worst ever produced by Chrysler. OK, so maybe the previous owner didn't change the transmission fluid and filter every 15,000 miles -- but who does? How many of you change your transmission filter every 15,000 miles? (I am still driving my 1989 Toyota Celica with 145,000 miles on an automatic transmission that has never had a single fluid change!)

I have a 1995 Eagle Vision ESI that I have owned for about 6 months. The car has about 103,000 miles on it and it has performed beautifully. I haven't experienced a single problem with my car. Nice, smooth shifting transmission, plenty of power, good gas mileage. Maybe I was lucky and purchased a car that was strictly maintained by the previous owner. Overall the best car I have ever owned. It is a bit annoying how the window gaskets seem like they're always popping out of place and the road noise is a bit high, but these are problems that are easy to tolerate. I would happily buy another Eagle Vision or one of the other Chrysler motors equals for my next car..

Summary:

This is a very comfortable, sporty and classy car

Faults:

I needed a new windshield and tires when I purchased this car.

The plastic around the doorhandles keeps cracking off.

The CD player rejected almost three fourths of my cds, even if they were brand new and had to be replaced.

The transmission leaks, but not bad enough to drip or replace the pan seal.

The clear-coat around the rear roll-up windows is cracking and pealing up.

General Comments:

This car is very comfortable and spacious inside.

The car is pretty powerful for a family sedan that is seven years old and gets about 23 miles to the gallon.

Out of my 11 cars so far, this one is the best for my money. I paid $3500 for it.

I drive this car like a high school student, because I am one, and nothing has broken yet.

The 11 speaker Infinity sound system sounds alright, but it would be a lot better with a 12" sub.

1995 Eagle Vision ESI

Summary:

Never ever again..

Faults:

This is about the worst car I have ever owned in my life to be honest. I love it to death, its nice looking and a nice ride, but a money trap.

At about 110,000 the timing belt went. water pump, a bunch of things just went bad. costing me about 600 to fix.

Lights stay on inside, had to replace buttons.

Rusting trunk back edge panel.

And now most recent. costing me a NEW MOTOR! one day it decides to start a quiet knock, by the time I took it to the shop the next day its knocking like 100 hammers are inside it. they look @ it and its knocking in the top and bottom, top was rocker arms have little cap type things on the end. they all needed replacing, costing me 400 - then they open the bottom, and decide to tell me the motor is shot and non-repairable @ 127,000 miles. and I still had to pay the 400 plus labor! and I now have to go buy a new motor costing over 1,200 to be put in!

Lovely car, if you have the money to keep it up!

The 1995 eagle vision 3.5 L. esi is a loving car, but the engine has a lot of problems. At 128000 miles the engine started a quiet low rattle. We found that number 4 cylinder bearing had spun so we had the engine repaired at a cost of $1900.00.

After the repair was done the car ran great from Monday to the fallowing Sunday when we took it to a wedding 6 miles away when it started rattling again. {587 miles after repair.} Before we got it home it sounded like a thrashing machine it was so loud that people came out to see what was going on. I love Chrysler and will always own one. But till I find a reliable engine to replace the 3.5 liter to a 3.3 or 3.8 it will sit till it rust to the ground. A lot of money to repair and maintain this car. One of Chryslers mistakes the 3.5 L. thanks for letting me comment on this car.
