1993 Ford Probe GT 2.5 24v

Summary:

What You will have when mating a corvette with Civic

Faults:

All ball joints were replaced.

Water Pump at 125000 miles.

Moon roof is very lazy (slow to open and close)

General Comments:

I have been an owner of two Honda Accords an 89' Lxi and a 91' Ex. People say they're dependable, it's true, but when they start to have emission problems they simple wanna retire. Compared to my GT which simply doesn't wanna stop having fun! This is the best car I've owned. It's not costly to maintain them if they were taken care of. The GT also get good get MPG. Everything you would want in a sport car the GT has it. From tight seats, low profile tires, excellent handling and looks, to the sweet turbine like hum of the 24V the Probe Gt makes a nice sport car. If you can find one get it you will never regret it.

I have had my 93 GT for a few years now. The roof works great with a little WD40. I replaced my water pump at 98,000 along with the timing belt, cv axles, and tires of course. The Goodyear Eagle GTII tires are excellent for anyone who is looking. I have had the car up to 130mph. Could've gone further if it weren't for the Colorado traffic. Very nice on cornering. I've had my battles with Mustang GT's and have had nice side by side runs. Have had little troubles with the new Accords and Audi's.

1993 Ford Probe GT DOHC V6

Summary:

A great first performance car for a young driver.

Faults:

The rear hatch struts are worn out, common problem with the Probe's heavy hatch.

My exhaust needed replaced (not cheap).

Ignition coil went once, I had it replaced, but it was starting to go again when I got rid of it.

Needed a new distributor (again, not cheap)!

Water pump went, along with power steering belt and pump.

General Comments:

'93 to '97 Probe GTs handle wonderfully, there is hardly any body roll when taking turns at high speed.

The interior is nice, as is the exterior, but mechanically the car (at least for me) was a piece of...

Just got a 300Z, wrote a review on it too, figured I'd do one for the Probe. Check it out!

1993 Ford Probe GT 2.5 V6

Summary:

A good bargain on a performance car

Faults:

Air intake makes the shifting a little rough (if you don't do it right).

Paint oxidation is kind of bad. I think Ford does not have the best paint.

Bars for trunk-hatch are worn out.

General Comments:

This car is great for someone who wants a sporty feel in a car with a low price. The acceleration is super and it handles great on turns.

A lot of my friends drive Honda, Acura and other Japanese cars, but this Probe feels more of a sports car than most. The throw on the shifter is a little long, but other than that everything else is great.

I had a friend who had a civic with racing parts and even dropped in a prelude engine. He said the acceleration on my car was better.

One note: Its not the easiest car for a beginner to learn on, but if you are comfortable with driving standard then its one of the best for its price.

1993 Ford Probe SE 2.0-liter DOHC

Summary:

For the price, this car is a dream to drive!

Faults:

The front suspension is a little worn and noisy, but it still does quite a good job of hugging the road. The biggest thing was the automatic transmission. The cooling lines plugged up, leaving the transmission to overheat severely. Needless to say, a whole professional rebuild cost me almost $1800. My only other complaint is the plastic interior molding, which crackles pretty decently while driving over bumpy roads.

General Comments:

With the proper tires, this car sticks to the road like glue and handles tremendously.

With a few inexpensive modifications, this car can really put the power to the ground. I have the fastest 4-cylinder car with an automatic transmission out of anyone I've come across so far.

Replacement parts may be expensive, and maintenance may be gruesome at times, but this car is well worth the effort to drive.

I drive this car 58 miles a day to go to work and back, and it's held up all the way so far.
