1993 Ford Probe GT 2.5L V6

Summary:

Very fast, road huggin demon

Faults:

My motor mounts cracked at 125,000 miles.

Door panel glue started to lose hold.

Bent drive shaft at 125,000.

General Comments:

This car is extremely quick and can out handle most sports cars. I have raced N/A Stealths and beat them in road and 1/4 mile tracks. 15.6 second BONE STOCK! Cockpit like feel. Shifts are very easy to go into. Throw also really short for stock.

Backseat needs more space. View out of rear view mirror is limited.

1993 Ford Probe GT V6

Summary:

Sharp looking with lots of power for the money

Faults:

My distributor went on the car costing me $1100.00.

CV joints in front end went completely costing $600.00.

Hydraulics for rear hatch do not work in the cold.

Emergency brake cable sticks and needs replacement.

Struts in front end now require replacement.

General Comments:

This car has a lot of power for it's size and has no problem accelerating on the highway.

This car corners well providing your air pressure is at the correct level.

Everything on this car is expensive to replace and you will replace units unfortunately.

1993 Ford Probe GT 2.5 V6

Summary:

A speedy car for very cheap

Faults:

The valve covers are starting to leak.

The paint is starting to oxidize and crack.

General Comments:

These cars look great and feel great too. These are really quick if you get the GT like I did, especially if you get the 5 speed. The handle better then any other car I've driven and keep traction to the road great with some Z rated tires.

The cabin is great for 2 people, but it'd be a poor ride if you had to ride in one of the back seats. The bucket seats are very comfortable. It has power everything, even sunroof, which is always nice.

Overall these are great cars for the money, as long as they are taken care of decently they should last forever.

1993 Ford Probe Basic basic

Summary:

Every girl should start with a Ford Probe!

Faults:

The only complaint I could have about the car is that it was really hard on exhaust systems. I had to have it completely replaced after I bought it, and then two new mufflers after that. As long as you have someone who can fix the muffler every so often the repair for me usually turned out less then $100.

General Comments:

The car never stalled, always started and was great on gas.

The car was holding up really well. There are few cars that still start when they are nearing 200,000. I currently am driving a dodge that has a fraction of those miles on it, and it is a pain to get going every morning.

The car may not be the best looking vehicle around, but they are great first cars. I really loved mine. I had to part with it to get a car with less miles, and I really regret not opting for another probe.

You must live "up North", where they slather salt on the roads. I live in Alabama, N Carolina before that, and I've only had 1 minor repair done on my exhaust system, in almost 220,000 miles. And yes, I love the way it starts (original starter!), one small twist of the key, and that baby is purring. A little warmup, and she's flying (and holding the road like it's a part of the pavement). Unlike you, I will never give up my Probe GT. Maybe that's what you need, a GT with a 5-speed stick! You don't need less miles, you need more car. Of course, any Probe you buy these days is going to be a "project car", ongoing project actually-but worth it!

1993 Ford Probe GT 2.5L 24 valve V6

Summary:

A pricey investment for those with no mechanical skills, but overall a very fun car to drive

Faults:

To start, I had to replace the ball joints and the tires on the car. This really hurt me financially. It was over 800 dollars for just the parts.

The passenger side ground effects broke off. Its not the cars fault I guess.

Two of the spark plugs became drowned in oil, which caused my car to frequently stall out at low RPM or idle and feel a bit sluggish at high RPM. It was corrected after I replaced all six spark plugs and spark plug wires.

The clutch and transmission replacement will be expensive if the problem is really as bad as I think it is. If its better than I expect, I will be able to get away with replacing my clutch.

General Comments:

I love this car. It was the very first car I actually purchased on my own without outside help. Its insurance rates are not sky high like the Mustang, the Camaro, and the Firebird. The engine may be a small six cylinder, but it has a lot of pep. Its handling is stiff and sharp turns are no problem. This car may have a fairly rough ride, but that is because of how low it is to the ground for handling purposes. I'm looking into a way to smooth the ride out a bit without decreasing the performance.

I have a Probe GT that I just bought used for a good price, but I'm worried about a problem that just began. You said yours stalled out while idling or at low RPM, right? Mine almost stalled out at high speed, on the highway, and the check engine light flashed on and off periodically. As I attempted to accelerate, the car hesistated and I thought it was going to die out, but it never did. Anyone know what this problem might be? That said, I love the performance of this car. It has great acceleration, especially since it has an aftermarket air intake system, and it corners like it's on rails. Just worried about the engine...
