Everything.

The car would overheat and stop running. This would happen regardless of the outside temp or traffic conditions. Driving this car made me a wreck because I never knew when this car would break down.

Summary:

This car rocks!!!

Faults:

Blown head gasket, high pressure power steering hose, lights burn out fast.

General Comments:

Sweet car, really good with .373 rear end gear, great gas mileage for a V8 (22 mpg).

Summary:

One great car

Faults:

Needed a new transmission...

The low oil symbol flashes on the dash because of bad wiring...

The armrests on the doors are falling off and the up and down function on the passenger side power seat don't work.

General Comments:

It is a great fast car with a lot of torque! It's very comfortable even though the seat doesn't move up far enough... It's fun to drive and very fun to peal out...

It's a big attention getter with the sound of the engine... the only problem is the steel rims with the steel hubcaps... they have got to go.

1988 Ford Thunderbird 2.3 turbo

Summary:

Above average performance and fun to drive

Faults:

Heater core, rear calipers, 2nd gear syncros, rack and pinion, rear axles (both).

Charged AC once.

General Comments:

This car has been a die hard car. I've had it on the track (both road and 1/4 mile). Still running the original turbo!

Summary:

One of Ford Motor Company's biggest mistakes

Faults:

Fuel pump replace, steering rack replaced, repeated ignition problems, BAD headlights, noisy throwout bearing, bad rear caliper, eats mufflers and tailpipes, AC repairs, numerous fuel injection problems, POOR heater, heater core replacement, other small items too numerous to mention.

General Comments:

When it is right, it is fun to drive and a good trip car. But, it is never right and it is the worst car for repairs that I have ever owned. I wish it was reliable and had a 5.0 Liter V-8, for then it would be a blast.

I agree with you. I have an 88 t/c, and I've swapped the four cyl. for a mildly worked 5.0 H.O. and a five-speed. It's a blast to drive and very reliable too.

I own a 1988 thunderbird t/c. It still contains the original 140 c.i.d. o.h.c. four cylinder. it currently has 178,000 miles on the original parts. as long as you keep up on PROPER ROUTINE MAINTENANCE as suggested by ford. The car will give you many years of smooth reliable service.

1988 Ford Thunderbird LX 3.8 V6

Summary:

Luxury masterpiece at a decent price

Faults:

Digital electronic dash light burned out ($135).

Passenger side power window motor replaced ($95).

Passenger side power window mounting bracket replaced (under warranty from new motor).

General Comments:

This a great car for the money. It's very reliable and goes all year round (being rear wheel drive, I had no problems once I got a set of studded snow tires). Very comfortable, power everything.

Faults:

Blown head gasket (not cars fault), backlight in the digital dash replaced, passenger side door armrest kinda fell off, that's about it.

General Comments:

Great car, especially since I got it for $1.00 in perfect running condition and near perfect body condition, only a few touch-up spots on the hood and rear fender. Too under-powered for the car, needed the 5.0 V8 engine option, needs wider tires and a lower stance, other than that it's pretty much good to go

General Comments:

Very underpowered car. Turbo is kind of fun though.
