1992 Geo Metro LSi Convertible 1.0 3 cylinder

Summary:

Small wonder from Geo

Faults:

1) Driver's side interior door handle snapped off.

2) Dash cracked.

3) Exhaust has came loose twice.

4) Windows are coming off track.

General Comments:

The Metro is a very reliable car, it has never failed to start. I do wish that the interior pieces were made a little better, but I guess all cars in that class are like that after awhile. The little car has no power at all, I don't mind though because it gets excellent gas mileage. I wonder how much longer the little car is going to go, it doesn't use any oil, but the car is losing power. I imagine though that a 3 cylinder engine isn't going to stay strong forever. The top down is a fun option in the fall or spring, the a/c takes awhile to cool down in the dead of summer. I've driven the later year model Metros 95-97 and they are a great improvement over these early models.

1992 Geo Metro

Summary:

Good on gas

Faults:

Overall the car has not been that bad. I had to have the clutch cable replaced about two thousand km after I purchased the car. I also had to have the rear wheel bearing replaced. Other than that, most of the other repairs where done on the car before I purchased it.

General Comments:

It's not a bad car, however there are definitely lemon models. I guess the biggest upside is the savings on gas!

1992 Geo Metro Four Door Sedan 4 Banger

Summary:

Reliable and cheap to buy and run

Faults:

Door and light chimes only work sometimes.

Door locks freeze in winter and one is now seized.

Dome light flickers while driving.

Tires are very hard to find as are most replacement parts. It's as if they were never made.

Rust is showing under door and near GEO symbol on the hood.

General Comments:

This is a great car for around town, and my model - 4 cylnder, sedan - is even great on the highway. She shudders at 100-110 kph, but it's smooth sailing after that to 145 kph comfortably.

Cab is fairly comfortable and seat 4 adults for short trips. Rear seats fold down for more cargo space so trunk room hasn't been a problem. Can't fit a deep two drawer legal filing cabinet in the car no matter how you turn it!

What this car give in economy for every day driving, it has taken in inconvieniance and cost for 'hard to find' and 'discontinued' parts.

Never stops working (except on really rainy days.. I think that the problem was fixed).

The doors and windows fell apart before the car dies. Parts are almost impossible to get and are very expensive if you do get them. It dies on occasion when it is very wet outside.

It possibly needs a new master cylinder.

Best car on gas I've ever known though.

1992 Geo Metro LSi 1.0

Summary:

A low cost, carefree, enjoyable car

Faults:

Rear window stitching failed.

Door handles don't work well.

General Comments:

This is a very cheap car, but Suzuki does a good job for the money. It is more reliable than most cars. I enjoy the go-kart feel of this car.

1992 Geo Metro Hatchback 3 cylinder

Summary:

A dependable and affordable vehicle

Faults:

I had to replace the clutch.

I had to replace the front end tie-rod links at 105,000 miles.

Passenger front inner door handle broke off.

Seats have started to wear badly.

Antenna broke off.

General Comments:

This car is very reliable and shows no sign off quitting even after 105,000 miles.

Other than the repairs listed above I've only needed to have this car regularly serviced and replace the tires when worn.

The plastic interior parts are not very sturdy or attractive, but will last if treated with care.
