1992 Geo Prizm Lsi 1.6

Summary:

Awesome ride for this 20 year old and was cheep Too!!

Faults:

Manifold Cracked, Alternator was bad, New battery, Brakes all 4 wheels, New Tires, other minor things, but never was gone to shop Knock on wood!!!

General Comments:

Well I bought my Geo Prizm from a friend for $300 bucks and had a few charging problems and come to find out it was just a Alternator. After that I have kept up the oil and everything else was serviced and the manifold cracked. Went to the wrecking yard and pulled one and fixed it. since then I have had no other problems with my Geo. This is the best car I have had and still runs strong to this day. Everything works on this car even though the car hit some ice and piled down a guard rail and, the rear panel and front fender are toast, but, I didn't do that to it, it was like that when I got it. I put aftermarket kenwood 250's 4" speakers in dash and 6.5" Pioneer in the rear plus two Pioneer 350 watt 10"s and a 600 watt amp and it pounds hard!!

1992 Geo Prizm Base 1.6

Summary:

Great car for the money!

Faults:

Loud bang noise in the driver's side front strut, but works fine with WD-40.

Driver's side window won't roll down.

Air conditioning was not functioning when I got the car, but I got it replaced and it worked great!

Radiator busted and got it replaced at reasonable price.

Hard to open the trunk with a key. Easier if you release the trunk by the trunk release from the inside.

Hood won't open. Have to have someone to hold the hood up while I pull the hood release. Works fine if you put a screwdriver to keep the hood up while I pull the hood release too.

Cracked dash.

Hard to replace the headlight. Expensive headlight too.

I don't know about the radio. I am deaf, but been told it's not very good. But I never turn it on so who cares.

General Comments:

Impressive acceleration.

Owned a Mustang and I have to admit, this Storm feels faster than the Mustang.

Make a sharp U turn easily.

Park anywhere you want in this tiny car.

Backseat is tiny, but I am the daily driver so I didn't care. Other than that, it's very roomy in the front!

Cruise at 120 miles per hour easily and very fast! I drive 3 hours one way to visit my friends every week and never a problem.

1992 Geo Prizm GSi

Summary:

The Best Car GM ever put together

Faults:

Nothing major. All minor.

Replaced the radiator at 96,000.

Have replaced the alternator twice.

Have always replaced the timing belt at each 75,000. Never had one to break.

Interior is like new. Keep a sheet over the backseat for the first ten years and it is like new.

General Comments:

The best car I have ever owned. I bought it brand new and I have gotten my money back several times over. I am still driving today and never worry about being left on the side of the road. My daughter will be driving it to school next year.

Did you know why it's "the best car GM ever put together"? It's got Toyota guts, as my dad said when I was a kid. We've had at least 1 Prizm ever since '93 and still have my mom's '02 Chevy Prizm after 16 years and ~130,000 miles.

1992 Geo Prizm

Summary:

Must be the Toyota in its blood!!

Faults:

For an 11 year old 4 cyl. economy car this car has been incredible! Very few problems that are not normal wear.

Starter (cheap and easy to replace)

CV joints/axles (but after 180,000 miles I'm not complaining)

General Comments:

This has been a great little car. My kids now use it for their beater. We have kept up on the maintenance and it just keeps on going and going! How do they make a small 4 cyl. motor get 190,000 miles and not burn oil?? My son did get T-boned last year and we have pulled dents and replaced a door etc. (different color) and it does not look too good any more, but it is a cheap, reliable ride!
