1988 Honda Accord LX 2.0L 4 cylinder

Summary:

A truly terrific little car

Faults:

Not a whole lot. Had to change the oil on a regular basis, but that's a given. When I got it it needed some new tires which I replaced soon after.

General Comments:

The performance of this vehicle is nothing to write home about. It's small 4-cylinder engine was geared for transportation as opposed to being a race car, which some people don't understand. The interior is mint, except for a small cigarette burn in the back seat and a torn steering wheel plastic piece which I taped back on. The car is just downright fantastic! It accomodates my 6'4, 290lb frame easily. The 5-speed manual is a great trans and makes the car fun to drive. The fuel economy on the car is pretty good at around 25mpg, give or take. I have put about 27,000 miles on it since it was purchased 6/2000. I am just starting to notice a little rust around the passenger side wheel well, but I could care less as it has not yet infested the car. The comfort and design was great at it's time as well as in today's standards. The only thing I don't like is the fact that there is too much plastic inside and out, and the girls don't dig it. But I guess you can't have everything right?

1988 Honda Accord LX

Summary:

A highly reliable car that won't empty your wallet

Faults:

The only things that have gone wrong with this car are: right rear ball joint blew out at 124,000 miles; A/C went in 1998 (not sure how many miles) and needs a new compressor; rust around the rear wheel wells (has been a problem with older model Accords).

General Comments:

Other than those things listed above, everything that has been replaced on this car was from normal wear or scheduled maintenance. One of the things I don't like about this car is the weak 98 horses that it comes with. Although it is standard, I wish it had a stronger engine. My Accord is very reliable and rarely sees the repair shop. I even have the original clutch in it with 127,000 miles. The engine runs great and doesn't burn or leak a drop of oil. I have a lot of friends with newer cars than mine that have so many more problems... the next car I buy will definitely be another Honda. As long as you perform the regular maintenance, you won't have any problems with this car.

1988 Honda Accord LXI 2.0 Fuel Injected

Summary:

The cheapest way to enjoy a great ride

Faults:

The only thing I have ever HAD to do to the car is put a thermostat in it. That was the one and only time it has broken down on me. The power window control module stopped working inside the drivers door, it was 5 bucks at a local salvage yard. The exhaust was a little shot when I got it, but I planned on that being changed even before I got it. Everything else works except for the cruise control.

General Comments:

Its has been a great car.

It gets great mileage.

Maneuverability is exceptional.

Handles like a sports car.

1988 Honda Accord LX-i 2.0 fuel injected

Summary:

A very nice car at a good price

Faults:

I have had only a couple problems with the car:

1. The suspension is gone.

2. Valve tap ever since I got it.

3. The pipe from the header to the cat went at 120,000 miles. That was about $400.00.

General Comments:

The car is pretty fast, since I put on the exhaust and intake. I put in a short shifter, it is more comfortable to drive. The suspension I replaced with Eibach sportline springs and Tokico shocks. It handles really well.
