2000 Honda Accord EX- Coupe 3.0L

Summary:

7 out of 10

Faults:

Check Engine Light- Egr pipe- covered by warranty.

Check Engine Light- Dealer stated I did not close gas cap 3 clicks. I argued and they gave me a one time reprieve from the $90 service charge.

SRS light came on and off. A few dashboard lights flashed upon acceleration from stoplights. I had 69000 miles. at the time. It turned out to be the Delphi alternator.

General Comments:

Overall, good car so far, however we'll see if that recalled tranny lasts! I owned a 1994 Acura Integra GSR before this car and had even more problems in the 60-80K range. I'm starting to lose my confidence in Honda reliability. We shall see how this one turns out as I plan on keeping it a while.

2000 Honda Accord 4 cylinder

Summary:

The car is a good city and travel vehicle with few flaws

Faults:

There have been numerous electrical problems with this car. Maintenance, airbag, and e-brake dash lights come on intermittently and have no mechanical reason for doing so.

The gas pedal sticks occasionally when transitioning from parked. This is dangerous in a parking-lot scenario where the driver has to punch the gas to get going and could result in a low speed collision.

General Comments:

My wife uses this car as a commuter vehicle, but it doesn't get the excellent gas mileage that you'd expect from a 4 cylinder Honda. Typically we get low 20's for mpg in the city and near 30 for extended travel.

The car is a comfortable one to drive and has performed well under the circumstances.

Same problem with my Honda. SRS light comes on all the time. As well as the side air bag lights. Now all of the lights blink on and off. Just took it to the dealer. They are saying that the alternator has gone bad.

Very interesting. I have a 2000 Accord EX. For a car with no personality, I love it. Leather, sun-roof, etc... But at about 49,000 miles the SRS light came on. I thought it was because the detailer knocked a plug under the passenger seat. I've read a bunch on the web, and found the best comments at www.honda-tech.com. The electrical problems here don't sound good. I wanted to give this car to my kids (oldest is 9 now) when they started driving. I'll add a comment when I find out what is going on.

2000 Honda Accord LX v6

Transmission went at 2000 miles.

Radio stopped playing Cd's at 3500 miles.

2000 Honda Accord LX 6 cylinder

Summary:

The electrical problems have convinced us this car is not worth the price they charge

Faults:

The tires wore out at 15,000 miles.

The Safety Restraint System (SRS) light came on at 45,000 miles. The dealer ran diagnostics and indicted there was a low voltage problem, but they didn't know what it was. Light went off for a while, but came back on. Our mechanic troubleshoot and said the alternator was bad. Replaced that.

SRS light still on at 52,000 miles. Dealer indicates that now the airbag control computer has gone out.

Also, light behind the dash clock goes out, but if you hit the dash above the clock the light will work for a while.

General Comments:

The car performs well and gets great gas mileage at 85 mph.

The seats are not comfortable for trips over 100 miles.

The ongoing problem with the SRS light is frustrating, especially since Honda has such a good reputation, more frustrating is dealer's attitude of just pay up to fix these things.

I have a 2000 Honda Accord V6 L.X. This car has the same problem with S.R.S. light, clock light, and low voltage. Worst of all, the power (electrical) now fades quickly (with no voltmeter or warning light) and then the car cannot run until I replace or recharge the battery. I am recharging a marine battery every night just to keep the car running a few miles per day, until it can be repaired. The S.R.S. light problems began on my car at 3,000 miles. The dealer repairs on it did not last. The electrical fading began at 37,000 miles. I advised both the Honda dealer and Honda customer service about these problems. Honda's customer service rep. took my VIN and told me he was making notes about my car's problems in their database and that I should take it to the dealer for non-warranty service. The dealership rep. advised they would check it out for $89.00 per hour labor (plus parts and materials). Thank you Honda!
