2007 Honda Accord LX 2.4

Summary:

Just a simple reliable transportation vehicle and nothing more

Faults:

Haven't had the car too long, so there are no problems so far.

General Comments:

Good basic transportation car. Does everything its supposed to do for a used vehicle. Not a lot of fancy stuff on it.

It's a 2007 Honda Accord LX model. Just a very basic Honda Accord. But perfect for me because I am not very good at a lot of tech stuff that modern vehicles have now. So you only have the basics. Stereo and CD unit. Knobs for most functions. Power mirrors. 4 doors. 15 inch tires and wheels. Cloth interior. Air conditioning and heater. Manual adjustments for the seats. Simple 2.4 liter engine with about 160 horsepower. Nice simple ride without a lot of internal or external squeaks and rattles. These are solid built little Japanese cars.

Bought it from a dealership so you pay more for it, but they do the basics to get it ready. In my case they changed the airbags on it. It had a recall on the Takata airbags. Both front ones. Put new tires on it. Some cheap Arcus er-800 tires. But they do the job. Replaced the air filter for both cabin and engine one. Did a safety inspection on it. Change the oil and filter on it. Did the smog. Brakes were worked on in the rear. If you have the ability to do these things yourself, then prices on these are very good through a private party. Might be able to save $2000-4000 dollars over a price at a dealership. I paid $7500.00 out the door for this Honda Accord, which includes all the fees and taxes they charge for it. Private party would have been a lot better, but you have to know cars and what to look for.

Also before you buy any used vehicles, please check carcomplaints.com for the best years and reviews from edmunds.com for the vehicle ratings from real owners. Check the good reviews and the bad ones too. Also repairpal.com for basic problems that it might have for that given year. Buying a used vehicle is a gamble at best. So you have to try to get an edge if you can. So do your homework before buying.

Good review. These are excellent cars, but as you said, do your research with any car and make sure you buy a looked after one to avoid expensive problems.

I might have made a mistake in this 2007 Honda Accord. Had my catalytic converter stolen and found out later that it's on the top ten list for having that stolen on this old school vehicle. So don't be a dummy like me. Check to see if you vehicle is stolen a lot and/or its catalytic converter is stolen a lot. I didn't check that and now I have to pay for that.

Found out also this is a racket between the state, the state smog regulators and the businesses that make those catalytic converters. California state will not let you buy an aftermarket one or a used one to put on. You have to get an OEM one from the dealerships which are running for about $5000.00 for the parts needed to put back the catalytic catalytic converter back on. And that doesn't include any labor to put the catalytic converter back on. Also put the O2 sensors and A pipe back on. To weld up the exhaust pipes and to get it to pass smog again. Learn from my mistake. Look up any used vehicles you might buy and see if its catalytic converter is stolen a lot. And if you have one of those vehicles, protect it and maybe add some protection to the underside of your exhaust system.

Yes it's a problem here in the UK as well, the value of precious metals contained in these exhaust systems has risen significantly, so unfortunately so has the theft of them.

I’m rather curious as to why a catalytic converter would tend to be stolen off of one particular vehicle as opposed to another. They are all sold for the metals so it seems odd. Not doubting your claim.

It’s quite challenging (and also dangerous) to recover those precious metals from converters. Maybe some hardware configurations are easier for refineries to work with and may also simply contain more of the metals. May also be easier to remove the converter itself from the vehicle.

Found out later this was a special smog vehicle that went to California. It's called a SULEV vehicle that has more precious metal in the catalytic converter than other Honda Accords have. Don't end up like me with a vehicle that can't get a catalytic converter unless I go to a dealership and pay about $5000.00 dollars just for the parts and not even the labor to put it back together after the thieves cut everything up underneath the vehicle. Check to see if thieves love your vehicle or not. And if you have a top 20 vehicle that someone might take its catalytic converter, then explore getting some type of protection or shield for underneath the vehicle.

2007 Honda Accord EXL-W 2.4

Summary:

Best mid sedan made in the 2000s decade

Faults:

Self starter.

O2 sensor.

Air intake flow tube.

General Comments:

The best car I ever owned. Run for 237000 miles and still running as new. All I did is regular maintenance. Cheap parts and they last a long time.

Seats are not that comfortable, but it is OK.

Sporty feeling and it is more engaging than other car.

It never failed me and it was really hard to let it go after using it.
