2008 Honda Accord 2.4 177bhp

Summary:

Blew me away!

Faults:

Not a thing.

General Comments:

I love this car. I think the restyle is great inside and out. Very roomy and form fitting.

Not the most power in the world, but it suits my needs. Also I drive highway most of the time, and on my first tank got 32 mpg.

Test drove a Camry and Malibu, but the Accord blew me away.

The only thing I don't like is placement of the A/C knobs. Hard to reach them from the drivers side.

Looking forward to putting a few 100,000 miles on this one.

2008 Honda Accord LX 4-door 2.4 Liter 4 cylinder

Summary:

Saturn called, they want their ugly piece of junk back!

Faults:

Coolant leaking from head gasket at only 5,000 miles! replaced under warranty.

Brakes shudder now starting at only 8800 miles.

Transmission shifts jerky and can't seem to find or stay in the right gear, dealer acknowledges but can't find cause of problem. They're debating right now whether or not to replace the transmission.

General Comments:

What was Honda thinking with the styling? I thought it would grow on me, but it hasn't. It reminds me more of a cheap Saturn than a honda. Not that my previous minivan was an attention getter, but at least I could depend on it. My husband talked me into buying this car with him, because of high gas prices. Honda needs to realize some cars are just too ugly, no matter how cheap or "green" environmentally friendly they are.

Well I will say it gets good fuel mileage, especially while sitting in the shop for days at a time not running! We needed a larger sedan to replace our "gas-guzzling" Chevy Astro, which by the way had no major problems even at 180,000 miles. Time is money for me too, and I'm not saving either with a car in the shop for days at a time. If these problems don't get resolved, I will file for buyout under lemon law. And if my husband tries to talk me into buying a Prius or Fit, I'm filing for divorce!

Sorry for your problems on the Honda. Truth is every manufacturer has lemons in their lines, and you'll find that out on any of these forums. Try looking up the Toyota Camry and see all the blue faces next to the reviews!

As far as the looks... it is all subjective. I like the looks but they kind of blend in with every other car nowadays, and they all look so similar it really doesn't matter too much anymore which one you buy.

2008 Honda Accord EX 3.5L V6

Summary:

So far, we love it

Faults:

Nothing yet, as we really haven't had time to evaluate this factor.

General Comments:

Our dealer loaned us the Accord for a couple of days, just to drive around in and to make sure we liked it. After two days... we loved it.

Awesome engine (goes like a rocket with a feeling of continuous torque).

The seats are comfortable, the car handles extremely well and is very quiet.

I have this overwhelming feeling that we will have this vehicle for a very long time to come.

I shall keep you informed as we get more miles on it.

Very quick. Very responsive. It's a Honda - what more can I say. However, it is a bit early to tell. I shall write more as we get more miles on the car.

OK... we now have 170 km. on the Accord - AWESOME! LOVE IT!

Smooth... quiet... responsive... fast... comfortable... did I say responsive and powerful? We have to keep the break-in oil in for another 4000 km. and then will change to full synthetic. I shall keep you updated.

Jim.

Have just purchased 08 Accord V6 and it's had its first 1000km service. It's very nice to drive and quiet and has a refined feeling. I have noticed the front pillars (due to airbags) to be wide and causes rather large blind spot when approaching intersections. It had plenty of power and looking forward to taking it out for a highway drive and seeing how is goes. I did some hills driving and I found the handling was excellent for a fairly large car. I live in Australia so had choices for Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon, Toyota Aurion & Camry and the new Ford Mondeo. I prefered the Honda for variable timing engine technology (which has been around for years), CO2 emissions, safety features and Honda reliability. I'm adding a reversing camera and sensors due to the size of the side mirrors and the back end of the vehicle-I find it hard to reverse in. I have heard some brief clunking noises when putting the car into reverse so will be keeping an ear out for that. The standard stereo has a great sound and seats feel comfortable, I like the styling of the car but that comes down to personal choice. I will keep you posted!
