2006 Honda Civic EX 1.8

Summary:

Excellent car, very reliable, a great car

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with this car yet, it is solid, runs great and it's a Honda!

General Comments:

I love my Honda Civic EX - great little car. I should have bought a Honda last time, but I opted for the 0% Financing offered by GM. Well I learned my lesson.

The car is agile, quick and great on gas.

Lots of extras, great stereo, interior. I am having difficulty find anything wrong with the car.

OK, maybe the price, but you get what you pay for, other than that I love the two tier dash board.

2006 Honda Civic ex 1.8

Summary:

You cannot go wrong with a Civic

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong, still very new.

General Comments:

Great car, back seat has lots of room for my four year old twins. I do notice that the car is somewhat unstable on those bridge grates, but rides well in all other respects.

Called the dealership on the repair schedule. In a nutshell, change all fluids every 30,000, no timing belt service as in the past.

Have yet to run the car hard, still too new. Mileage has been in the mid 30s and expect this to get a little better.

Love the look of the rear of the car, looks like a BMW.

Car is black with ivory interior. I worry about keeping the inside clean with the kids, but what the heck.

I can't believe you said it looks like a BMW... obviously you have no idea what a bmw is never-mind what one looks like. And as an owner of an 06 LX coupe I can confidently say that yes you CAN go wrong with a civic.

As an owner of an Accord I can tell you that you can't go wrong with an Accord.

First of all, nothing Honda makes looks remotely like a BMW (which is not all that great-looking anyway) and YES, you MOST DEFINITELY can go wrong with a Civic. Hopefully you'll have better luck with yours than my experience has been. The one Civic in our household started self-destructing at 40,000 miles (CV joints went out) and TOTALLY disintegrated at 90,000 and was sold as scrap.

"Love the look of the rear of the car, looks like a BMW."

Yes, that is exactly why I am no longer impressed by BMW. It is precisely because they look like just another Honda econobox! Apparently the style and luxury are gone, and are no longer something to aspire to.

Why I dislike the current BMW designs, to say they are looking like econoboxes is simply wrong. BMW design chief Chris Bangle has set a design language that virtually EVERY car maker is following one way or another. Even the mass market Camry has a trunk similar to the BMW 5 and 7 series.

Even the Land Rovers are owned by Ford!

2006 Honda Civic EX Coupe 1.8

Summary:

Classy

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with this car as of yet.

General Comments:

Honda really changed up the style of the Civic coupe for 2006. This car has incredibly good looks. The car handles great and runs quiet as well. The auto tranny, however, appears to have to "hunt" for gears when traveling in stop & go city traffic. Not a big deal I guess, but it makes the city driving less smooth. The only other complaint I have about this car is the extremely cramped space under the hood (not user friendly for do-it-yourself maintanence.

I fully agree with you, my Honda Civic has been very smooth, but the stop and go could be much smoother. My only big complaint is when I bought the car, there was a rather long stain going up the back seat, but that's a dealer issue. I have put about 2000 miles and it's had no problems, as it shouldn't!

Is it possible to choose a gear on the automatic transmission that locks out the higher gears. I was able to do that with a Volvo I once owned. That would probably resolve the transmission hunting for gears.

2006 Honda Civic EX 1.8

Summary:

This car is best in it's class for overall value

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong as of yet, but given my overall luck with vehicles, this will be a challenge to see if Honda is the car everyone thinks it is.

General Comments:

This car has awesome styling both inside and out. I have drivn many different kinds of vehicles over the years, but never has a four door sedan garnered the type of attention this thing gets wherever I go.

It will accommodate many different sizes of people comfortably, especially for it's size. The big plus here is that the steering wheel telescopes as well as tilts allowing even a long legged individual to comfortably operate the vehicle. All of the controls are easy to reach and understand.

It handles like a 5-series BMW, but gets twice the gas mileage. The steering is very quick- something new this year is that the steering is only 2.6 turns lock to lock, so it is very sensitive- especially at highway speeds.

The ride is firm, and the four wheel disc brakes are fade free even in the mountainous region where I drive.

I was wondering what kind of mileage do you get out of it.. have you tried taking it out on the freeway and stuff???

1st May 2006, 11:39

I drive one in South Africa at 1400 meter above sea level that reduces power by up to 17%. Open road at 70-80Mph average I get 14.5 Kilometres per litre. No clue what that translates to in MPG.
