2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L 3.5 V6

Summary:

Like the car, hate the design flaw

Faults:

I bought a brand new 2006 Honda Odyssey.

I noticed that the air conditioning didn't seem to be as cold as I thought it should be. I chalked it up to the hotter than normal summer temperature, and my failure to read the manual. After poking numerous combinations of buttons, I read said manual. No help there.

I took the van back to the dealership and was subsequently told that a rock hit the condenser and that wasn't covered under the warranty. I can understand that and put it down as bad luck, except that the dealership admitted that this had happened with two other Odysseys purchased there. As far as I'm concerned, it's a design flaw. It is absolutely ridiculous that Honda seems to be aware of this problem, but is refusing to fix it. I encourage everyone that owns either a 2005 or 2006 Odyssey with this problem to report it to NHSTA and to Honda.

Incidentally, Honda agreed to fix my condenser at no cost as a "one-time goodwill gesture." Gee thanks, but what about next time? Should I go out and sweep the highway free of rocks before I go on a trip? Put a sign in my window kindly asking other drivers to check their tires for rocks?

You should be so lucky that it is just he condenser, other van would not be so graceful. Maybe your review will help make the waiting list for the Ody in my town go down to 4 years. Geese! The GM van would have needed a manifold gasket; the Chrysler would be in the shop right now; and the Ford, do they make a van anymore? You had the best van and now you are spoiled.

2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L

Summary:

Great van

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

I have only owned my Odyseey for a few months. This is my fourth Honda and first minivan. I previously owned a 2005 Pilot and decided I wanted something with a little more room.

The Odyssey has a lot of features for the money. You have all the safety gizmos including three rows of airbags, vsa those are just a couple. The interior is of very high quality materials with great workmanship.

The engine equipped with valve cylinder management creates an average of 20mpg city and 24 mpg highway for my style of driving. I looked at others vans. and none of them held a candle to the Odyssey IMO.

2006 Honda Odyssey

Summary:

Make one that REALLY seats 8 people

Faults:

We never got past the test drive -- heck, we never even drove it! We are a family of 8, two adults and six kids -- and not all little kids either.

This van claims to have 8 passenger seating. Well, if you have half a kid, you are fine. They offer you half a seat in the middle row! There is no room for a car seat either on that seat. Leg room is NON EXISTENT too! I'm only 5'10 and I couldn't fit in the back to tend to our baby on long trips.

The Sienna by Toyota has TONS of leg room, a REAL seat for the 8th person, and a trunk into which you can fit more stuff than six kids need!

Something is not right about this review. If you look at the comparison chart of the Odyssey and the Sienna, the measurements are not too much different. In fact the Ody has more leg room in the 2nd and 3rd rows. The Sienna however is about 3 inches wider when it comes to hip room in the 2nd and 3rd row. I do not think the best minivan on the market deserves this slandering. This review is unfair of a good vehicle and the sound of it hints to a Toyota salesman. Even if it was smaller, what kind of Odyssey owner would dang their vehicle such as this review does?
