2006 Honda Pilot EX 3.5

Summary:

Poor quality brakes; not reliable

Faults:

Needed new front brakes 4 times, and rear brakes 3 times.

New starter, new AC compressor and new wiring harness to starter, due to salt corrosion inside harness.

Exhaust work.

General Comments:

We owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Expedition and two Suburbans. The Honda is the worst SUV so far. Honda cars are great, but this Pilot has been junk. Left us stranded twice. All maintenance done per dealer.

2006 Honda Pilot LX 2WD 3.5 Liter V6

Summary:

Very happy owner of a Honda Pilot

Faults:

I own a 2006 Honda Pilot, and bought it last year in May of 2009. It had 44000 miles when I first got it, and now it has almost 65000 miles.

So far, overall about my vehicle has been very good, with no problem whatsoever. I change the oil every 4 to 5000 miles, and have changed the tranny fluids twice already. I figure changing the tranny fluids more often will help it last longer with less chance of transmission failure. I used more expensive oil and transmission fluids for better protection.

General Comments:

I am always happy with Honda products, and I have owned three Hondas before owning a Pilot now. Planning on keeping my Pilot until the wheels fall off; who know, they may never fall off.

It's very comfortable for long road trips. I get good gas mileages in the upper 20's on the highway, and between 18 to 21 in town. Well I am a light foot on the gas, that's why.

Lots of space for hauling things.

Well overall, I am very happy with my Honda Pilot, and I'm planning to keep it for a very long time.

2006 Honda Pilot EX-L

Summary:

2006 Honda Pilot has some integrity issues

Faults:

Within 3 months I bought this car, I took a trip to Ski area. The car couldn't start after I left the light on for 30 minutes. I found out Honda didn't use a decent battery for Pilot. I think this is Honda's responsibility to use a decent battery.

General Comments:

Overall the car is fine. But the battery definitely is a huge concern for me. Now I always carry a battery jumper with me. It seems ironic for such a new car (only 4000 miles on it)

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Funny how I have almost the same battery in four of my Accords and they have lasted through leaving my lights on and idling for 15 minutes at a time. My brothers original out of the factory Delphi (Honda factory) lasted 6 years without a problem.

Most batteries, no matter how new, will die within several minutes of leaving the lights on after the engine is cut off. I am surprised that your headlights did not cut off as the ones in the Accord will shut off after about 30 seconds.
