2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

Summary:

Solid, would buy another

Faults:

NADA.

General Comments:

Good reliable semi-sport utility so far. Wife's car. She does NOTHING to take care of it. I keep up as best I can, but OUR service record is poor.

Regardless, not one serious issue yet.

2005 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.5

Summary:

Unreliable after about the 40,000 mark

Faults:

At approx. 40,000 miles I began having a problem with the car accelerating and lunging forward on it's own. Then slowing down, then lunging forward...

This is the 3rd episode. The dealer said it was the throttle sensor. This is very dangerous.

General Comments:

Thought it was great. But now I'm wondering if I should think about getting another car before this problem gets worse and I get in an accident from the car lunging ahead on its own.

2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

Summary:

I wouldn't buy another Hyundai of any kind

Faults:

First day the brake line was leaking.

The compass stopped working, the dealer ordered the part and replaced it and told me the clock was still not working. He didn't even know it was not a clock. The second compass works fine.

The wheel bearing on the right side went. The dealer replaced it.

The driver side mirror would not adjust, they said nothing was wrong with it and when I got it back it worked OK. I had a few people try and adjust it and they could not. It would only adjust in two directions.

There was a short in the electrical system. When I put on the left blinker everything blinked. They claimed it was the tow hitch U-haul put in and charged me. The hitch is not hooked up, but the short came back. Now when I step on the brake, all the lights on the dash dim. It's in the shop for that right now.

The left side wheel bearing is gone. It's also in the shop right now for that.

General Comments:

Believe it or not I like this car. I like the ride.

The gas peddle is very sensitive, but I'm used to it. Anyone else driving it has a hard time though.

The gas mileage isn't great, but I didn't expect it to be.

If this car ever gets out of the shop it would be great. I'm going to write the head office to complain.

2005 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 2.7 awd

Summary:

Performs well and delivers the goods

Faults:

No troubles so far.

General Comments:

This is a fun vehicle to drive.

More peppy than CRV and quieter ride and more feature packed and better warranty.

Leather seats are harder than expected and could use a better grade of leather.

No choice of leather colour, grey is your colour, but better than black.

Gas mileage is nice on highway, but not to good in city (awd always on).

Styling is dated, but not bad after you get used to it.

Nice little truck, people need to get over the 1984 Hyundai reputation. It's a new ball game.

2005 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 3.4 V6

Summary:

Acceleration system is a safety concern

Faults:

The drive by wire acceleration system is a safety issue.

General Comments:

The drive by wire acceleration system is very difficult to adjust to, and is a safety issue especially if not primary driver.

Oh whatever, drive-by-wire is not THAT different. A bigger safety concern would be if your BRAKES were not working. I don't think that having to adjust to a new car is a particularly dangerous thing. Also, if you do not like how it drives then you should not have bought it.

How can someone verbally BASH not only a car, but the whole company after hitting a horse (you should be a better driver). And the only damage is to your mirror and the clock stops operating? What? Really?! Get a watch. I know cars that would not run after striking a large animal. You didn't even mention front or side damage to the vehicle. As far as you not fitting into the car, what did you do - purchase this on the internet? Most people take vehicles for test drives and have the ingenious moment of realizing that they really are not comfortable and decide not to follow through with the purchase.

Maybe you are angry and had to vent your frustrations of paying for a vehicle before you actually tried it? Just a thought.
