1994 Hyundai Scoupe turbo

Summary:

This car is reliable, inexpensive, and great on gas

Faults:

Steering wheel belt/water pump/timing belt all at 97,000 miles... all for $899 easy to find parts, my husband says it's one of the easiest cars he's ever worked on. I had hardly spent a penny on it before that, only 1 or 2 rims because I had slid on ice into a curb or two, and tire replacement. Recently the dashboard material has started to breakdown in the sun. I never did like the windshield wiper fluid device, it was placed on the hood of the car and would clog up as soon as it got some sand in the ejector part.

General Comments:

This car is reliable even in 30 degrees below 0 parked outside as well as 100 degree heat. It is fun to drive, and easy to park in small spaces. I never replaced the manual transmission it never did give out. The seats are very comfortable. I kept waiting for it to give me a reason to get rid of it and get a newer car, but it never did.

Another reason to hang onto it would be that it has almost no resale value.

1994 Hyundai Scoupe

Summary:

Great first car!

Faults:

The only things that have gone wrong with this car are things that are to be expected with a 10 year old car:

I got a new clutch; it didn't really need it yet, but the used car dealer offered to replace it for cheap if I bought the car.

Front and rear brakes needed replaced soon after I got the car.

It needed a new starter, though this is probably a result of me (and all my friends) having to restart it a lot while learning to drive stick on this car.

A/C doesn't work - this isn't a problem for me since I live in Ohio.

Bumpers need replaced, but that's only because I ran into a curb and then, one week later, ran into a really big rock. Red duct tape is currently holding both bumpers on, and it actually matches the color of my car quite nicely. Since fixing the bumpers would probably cost more than the car is worth, I'll just stick with the duct tape.

General Comments:

This is my first car and I love it. My parents were a little concerned since it was so small (my dad wanted me to get a 1997 Ford Taurus -- ewww), but they bought it for me anyway. It turns out small is a good thing; I can fit in tiny parking spaces that everybody else has to drive past and look at wistfully. The downside to such a small car is driving on the highway on a windy day can be an adventure.

The gas mileage is great; I get around 34 MPG.

This car has been pretty reliable. I'll hate to give it up when it comes time to sell it.

I highly recommend this car to anyone who wants a cheap, fun-to-drive car.

Hey, I'm a new owner of a 1993 S coupe and so far I'm pretty satisfied with it. The only thing is that the stereo, on the display, it reads "6543" and I have no idea what it means. Someone told me that it's a code and the dealership will be able to help me out with the problem because the stereo is currently not working. Wondering if anyone had any experiences with that or any feedback that could help me out.

Yeah, but other than that it's a great little car, currently in the process of changing the front brake lines and 2 out of the 3 gas lines had a little leak in them, their good now though, just a few touch ups here and there. I bought it at an auction for 800 bucks and it says it has about 200 000 KM on it which isn't bad considering its twelve years old.

I would recommend it as a first car for sure, although I've only had it a week and yet to have any major problems with it.

I would rather say "I am the proud owner of Hyundai Scoupe". iIam very much satisfied with its performance. It's a reliable car and I guess every one would love to drive it. I would strongly recommend a Hyundai Scoupe to any other car in that range.
