1994 Hyundai Scoupe LS 1.5 liter

Summary:

Sport car feel and look for small price

Faults:

Left front blinker does not operate correctly.

General Comments:

Great car for the price. It feels like a sport car but without the huge cost. It gets great gas mileage (32-36 mpg).

Also very easy for anyone to learn how to drive a manual transmission in.

It looks even better with the addition of a car bra. I love this car. However, the back seats are small... good only for kids.

1994 Hyundai Scoupe Turbo 1.5 turbo gasoline

Summary:

A good buy if all the problems happen under the warranty

Faults:

I have had non-stop problems with this car. Since I purchased the car I have had the following things done:

- Rebuilt the transmission twice and on the third time had it replaced (warranty).

- Replaced warping plastic panels (warranty).

- Replaced the dash because it was falling out (warranty).

- The paint chips real easy on this car.

- The idle speed is always rough (steering wheel shakes at idle).

- The idle speed is never constant (erratic), I have taken it in for servicing numerous times. The mechanic said that the cause of the erratic idle is the intake sensor and manifolds getting dirty. I don't buy this... When you clean this area with intake cleaner it runs fine for a couple weeks. Then it will act up again. It is a pain when you are downshifting because the car jerks because the engine does not decompress properly. It is also a nuisance when sitting in traffic. The idle RPMs go up and down (all over the place).

- Just recently my transmission went again. This time I will have to pay for it myself because the warranty expired.

General Comments:

I have to admit I am losing my patience with this car. I am seriously debating never to own another one. However, I still love it.

The straight-line on this car is very impressive. With only 115 bhp I am beating some cars with close to 200 bhp.

Overall, the car lacks refinement. It is not an expensive vehicle. I guess you get what you pay for.

I have similar problems with my Scoupe turbo, but I got the car for fun, not comfort cruising. The handling was greatly improved by 17" alloys.

Nice car to drive, but to get hold of parts is a nother thing.

I have been driving mine now for 3 years and had my ups and downs, mostly replaced with other parts.

She's like a woman, tough to maintain, but can't live without her.

Bought an M reg S coupe in 2007. Have had nothing but trouble with the darn thing. Engine overheats very quickly (even on short journeys),cuts out when idling in heavy traffic. Have virtually rebuilt this car (engine wise), and yet today still had to call out a recovery vehicle to tow me back home at a cost of £248.00 sterling, yet this car only passed its MOT (UK) 3 weeks ago - help!
