2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT 2.7

Summary:

A nice looking lemon

Faults:

When I first picked up my car it had a noticeable pull to the right. So far I have visited the dealership 4 times to have this problem fixed. The dealership has checked the alignment, air pressure, as well as rotating the tires, and still there is no clue why it pulls to the right.

The second problem I have had is the automatic lights. Taking for granted that they will turn off by themselves like the owners manual says it will, I turned off my car for the night, only to return to a dead battery.

The manufacture company is ordering special bolts to fix the steering problem. However, the dealership has to be called and reminded about each problem I have, or they don't call for weeks.

General Comments:

Over all I am very disappointed with the outcome of my purchase. From the beginning it has only caused stress and absolutely nothing has gone smoothly.

The car I purchased seems to be a lemon.

I owned a 2000 Saturn LS2 which had a pulling to the right problem. although not the same car, after taking my car in 4 times because I thought it was a wheel alignment problem, it ended up being a rack and pinion steering problem. the whole rack and pinion steering had to be replaced. thought this might help.

2003 Hyundai Tiburon Base

Summary:

Not reliable with poor customer service

Faults:

I have read several good review of the 2003 Tiburon, which surprises me. I am surprised because I have had several problems with my new Tiburon. I have taken my car in for service several times, with the hope of having a faulty the clutch fixed. The end result was that the car finally broke down on the side of a road in the middle of nowhere. Hyundai was not able to determine why the car failed, which included digital photos being sent to Vancouver, in an attempt to have them determine the problem. Ultimately, however, Hyundai felt it necessary to replace the engine after only 4000 km.

A few weeks later I received a letter from Hyundai, in which, notified me that the horsepower that was originally advertised was in fact, incorrect. At the time of purchase the car had 140 horsepower, six month later it was downgraded to 134. I have sent a few letters to Hyundai Canada to express my concerns with my car's history, which, six months later have not been answered. I would reconsider my Hyundai purchase.

There is a class action against Hyundai for the false advertisement of engine size. If anything you may want to see if you can be added to that list.

Tell Hyundai Suzen sent you!

2003 Hyundai Tiburon SE 2.0 4 cylinder

Summary:

Looks good and that's all

Faults:

My Tiburon was broken into at 200 km. There was $3000.00 damage. ICBC covered.

The plastic trim on the roof came down, which was replaced under warranty.

At about 2000 km, the car wouldn't start. If I got it started, my windows would not work and my lights would not turn off with the keys out of the ignition and switched off. Being under warranty, they replaced my control sensor panel, thinking this was the problem.

A week later, the car still wouldn't start. They replaced all ignition sensors, after being back and forth with my car, because they didn't know what could be wrong. They also gave me 1 new key with a new sensor.

I have had shifting problems with my car, which have not been resolved.

The car is also not starting every time either, again!

General Comments:

I have not heard of any other people having problems with their 2003 Tiburon's. Trust me, I've searched, I just want to let people know what could go wrong, and that it may take the dealership forever to fix the problem, because they don't know how!

Bummer of a deal to hear all the problems you've had. All you can say is ya got a "dud" it happens. Get rid of the car as soon as you lease or your last payment is made.

I've owned mine 3 weeks now and so far so good. I am completely enjoying it. Just waiting for the aftermarket parts to catch up with this thing.
