1992 Isuzu Pickup LX 2.3 litre carburetor

Summary:

Will have it forever, and it might last that long too!

Faults:

My Isuzu pickup AKA Suzi or Suzan, I have owned since I was 16 years old. I bought the truck for $3500 and it is worth every penny. I wouldn't sell it for a dollar below my purchase price.

I'm now 24 years old, and still driving my Isuzu everyday. The problems that have occurred with my truck are as follows:

The starter stopped working around 140,000 miles.

The head gasket went at 145,000 miles.

I had the vehicle sitting for 3 years as I embarked a journey of my trials with cars. Every car I have owned between these 3 years; all have had problems, and I have lost money buying and selling.

When I decided to put my high school ride back on the road, all I did was regular maintenance such as fluid changes, spark plugs, wires, air filter, belts, brakes, rotors, and calipers. These repairs probably weren't necessary, but I felt she deserved it.

I currently have 2 amplifiers in my truck that you think would wear out the alternator, but no. It is currently an audio hoar, and has 9 speakers in total in its little regular cab. The truck doesn't rattle, which is evident that this little Japenese built truck is built well.

General Comments:

These Isuzu pickups are awesome little trucks. Although they lack power and comfort, they still turn heads.

I have done everything you can to make my truck look its best. Such as new chrome bumper, new front grill, paint, wheels and tires, lowered, new tailgate, as the last one was rusting at the bottom, euro lights, front clear corners, and bug deflector.

This little truck always gets compliments, and people always think it's newer than it actually is.

I have recommended this truck to my friend, and he actually bought one, and he now loves it and has had no problems.

Good review! I have a 92 Isuzu Trooper LS and feel the same way you do. I've had it 3 yrs with 270k and it is TOUGH. Great rides that got an unfair press, but the Japanese companies have used Isuzu as a contractor to build the Landcruiser for Toyota and also to build the Lexus 450/470 SUV. Look at them and you'll see the resemblance to the Troopers from the 90s. Enjoy.

Have a diesel 4x4 2.5L V4 Isuzu 1992 DLX. Manual of course

It's still NEW LOL.

REALLY really nice light truck, the comfort is not like luxurious BMW's etc, but it's enough for not complaining.

Always get compliments on the way it stands, nice and simple design, looks new... many people request to buy it.

It's extremely reliable, never did any modifications except for the alloy rims, which looks great.

Did 199K and never got any mechanical problems, gonna keep it in family till... forever? I strongly guess so.

1992 Isuzu Pickup

Summary:

Has served me well. Hope my next one is as good.

Faults:

Carburetor rebuild at 180,000.

Oxygen sensor replaced at 200,000.

Currently (208,000) feels like transmission issues are causing the truck to lurch.

Leaks oil a bit.

A/C must be charged every season.

General Comments:

Truck has been extremely reliable despite not having been pampered. I have had some periodic maintenance accomplished (brakes, oil, replace timing belt, etc.)

But since this car was paid off ages ago, the occasional maintenance cost is a bargain compared to a car payment.

1992 Isuzu Pickup 4 cyl

Faults:

I had a valve job done (under warranty), but I had not read the manual that says valves must be adjusted every 15,000 miles. After I started having the scheduled maintenance done the truck has run flawlessly.

Isuzu pickups are the best. Hands down.

I have fully customized mine, with hydraulics, and this truck runs perfect, since day one. If you have a chance to buy one used (they go for about 2 grand now for a 1992), buy it. You'll drive it into the ground before you have to do anything to it. Very reliable.
