1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L High Output

Summary:

A dependable utility vehicle for the long Canadian winters

Faults:

There was a crack in the heater core causing a draft on the passenger side.

The rear driver's side leaf-spring has cracked.

General Comments:

The Jeep Cherokee Sport has proven itself to be a very reliable utility vehicle. Living in Canada, long cold winters are common. The Jeep started without a problem in minus 30 celcius temperatures without being plugged in. Driving in up to 30 cm of snow and ice was also not a problem for the Jeep. It powered up big climbs in the mountains without losing any speed. Folding down the rear seat provides a fair amount of covered cargo space. The roof rack was another handy feature for ski trips and such. General maintenance (fluid changes, light bulb change, brakes, etc.) was fairly simple and could be done in the comfort of your own garage providing you have the basic tools required. Overall the Jeep Cherokee sport is reliable utility vehicle whose performance is exceptional. I highly recommend it.

1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 6

Summary:

Dependable and capable off road vehicle that's rough on pavement

Faults:

The water pump has gone out twice, but I made the mistake of replacing the original one with an after-market model. The clutch had to be rebuilt at 140,000 miles. The handle on the shift lever came loose and I taped it to hold it in place.

General Comments:

I originally purchased the vehicle to get me up a very steep and long driveway in Kansas City when it snowed. The vehicle handles very well on slick surfaces and I have driven through 24 inches of snow. It definitely gets you through some adverse weather. The vehicle ride is rough. It's a sports utility and rides like a utility vehicle. I would not recommend the vehicle to anyone putting in a lot of highway miles. It's great for short trips and off road. The vehicle has been relatively trouble free for 140,000 miles.

1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport 6 cylinder

Summary:

A great asset to our family

Faults:

I have totally enjoyed my Jeep Cherokee Sport.

I have never had any major work done to my Jeep, at around 100,000 miles I had to replace the water pump, other than that and routine services every 3000 miles, my Jeep has been great.

I trust it fully no matter where I go. I will definitely buy another Jeep, they have won my confidence in them for life.

1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 liter

Faults:

Brakes replaced; Needed work on axle hub after 50,000 mi.

General Comments:

I have enjoyed the car, used the part time 4WD in winter. As long as you are not expecting a cadillac ride I recommend the vehicle. It has been used by me to carry all sorts of cargo around. I can't go back to a car.
