2006 Jeep Commander Limited 5.7 Hemi

Faults:

Lost three plastic rivets from fender skirt.

General Comments:

Looks like my old Cherokee on steroids.

Flies! More HP and less torque (faster) with less off-road capability than the H2.

Handles well even at high speeds.

Consumes gas about 12-13/mpg-but don't buy any SUV (get a KIA) if your worried about increasing gas prices.

Lots of on-board electronics-luxury items.

Cabin is roomy enough with front and rear elevated stadium seating.

Third row seating is also elevated for better passenger forward vision, but tight for those in back with little leg room. (Good for kids and those you don't like enough-or owe you money-to ride shotgun.

Good vision (front and side) but little rear vision- if third row seats and headrests are up. Learn to use your side view mirrors (like any truck driver has to) and the park assist feature.

The commander is a small tank crossed with a hot rod surrounding a luxury hotel studio apartment inside.

If you want to enter combat-like terrain buy a Hummer-1 (Alpha).

If you want Speed buy Viper.

If you want luxury buy a Lincoln.

If you want sensibility buy a Jeep Liberty.

If you want gas economy buy no SUV.

If you want a taste of all the above buy a Jeep Commander!

Love the last part of your post! True!

I adore my Jeep Commander (2007 Limited) and everyone that rides in it or drives it is equally impressed within moments of getting in to it. It handles like a dream, easy to get in and out of (I'm tall and also have my elderly parents riding with me at times) and I have been very happy with the performance, passing on hills, handling, comfort and overall beauty of this vehicle.

I've owned Chevy Blazers for a long time and was looking for something similar in appearance but prettier and I got it. I love the gun-metal grey color of the one I picked out. I'm a happy girl with this!

I would recommend the Hemi engine, though, because surprisingly they do make a V6 version of this vehicle that is totally gutless and not worthy of being in the same category!

True, I love my own 06 Jeep Commander loaded!

So, you're saying that this vehicle is good at nothing? Based on my experiences with Daimler-era Mopars, I'd be wiling to believe it.

2006 Jeep Commander 5.7L Hemi

Summary:

Very quick, roomy, powerful, retro Jeep

Faults:

Nothing yet.

General Comments:

Equipped with the 5.7L Hemi, the vehicle is very fast.

Most of the safety features are standard (side airbags, ESP, all speed traction, anti roll mitigation).

The Quadra Drive II system is excellent; The vehicle transfers power to 1 wheel if 3 wheels have little or no traction.

It is a very quiet ride.

My only problem with the Jeep; the third row seat is a little cramped.

Retro? Is that why they decided on a model name last used on a 1966 Studebaker?

I'll admit it looks kinda cool and "commanding", but you must have bad MPG ratings.

Also, I'd like a car/truck/suv whatever that DOESN"T need all those safety systems to be a good vehicle. Imagine if the vehicle had none of those "features", what a piece of crap it would be...
