1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.0L V6

Summary:

I definitely recommend at least looking at a Grand Cherokee before buying anything else

Faults:

Replaced driver fog light lens due too bad seal & moisture was getting in.

Replaced driver headlight housing and lower turn signal housing due to cracks & moisture was getting in.

Replaced intake manifold gasket (covered under warranty)

Replaced stereo, buttons screwed up so when you skip track on CD the radio would override the CD player (covered under warranty)

Recharged AC this past summer.

Total costs this year (2002). Less than $200.

General Comments:

The Grand Cherokee is, in my opinion, a great vehicle. I drive 40 miles to work every day round trip, and get around 20+MPG. I had a Cherokee before the Grand Cherokee & the 4WD system was quite different. It's kind of hard to get used to all time 4WD. Plus the Grand Cherokee never really "feels" like it's in 4WD like with the Cherokee.

It's also a very comfortable vehicle with the pillow stitched seats and rides very nice with very little road noise.

If you want a vehicle that looks classy and not cheap on the inside & out, look at a Grand Cherokee.

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.0

Summary:

I have 2 now, looking for number 3

Faults:

Right rear axle seal started leaking at 110,000, I got them all replaced as they are only rated for 4 years or 100,000 miles.

Front CV Boots cracked after 6 years and 125,000 miles, got them both replaced as a precaution.

General Comments:

Jeep delivers on it's promise, this vehicle can and has gone everywhere I've tried to take it with no problems.

Interior has aged beautifully, no cracks, tears or holes, and the seats have gotten more comfortable over time.

Infinity Stereo/CD player sounds great, has not had any problems.

All power options still functioning perfectly.

Truck has been driven cross-country twice, both trips were completed with no maintenance issues.

Off road ability has been pushed to the limit, but the Jeep always drives home.

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0

Summary:

Reliable, fun, sporty and all around good vehicle

Faults:

I had to replace the rotors in 2000. New thermostat in 2000. Other than those two thing it was the the best vehicle I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I'm in the process of purchasing a 1999 model right now. I just sold my 1995 about 3 hours ago because of high mileage.

General Comments:

Very reliable and handles great to be an SUV. The gas mileage is pretty good considering it's full time 4 wheel drive. Nice interior.

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8

Summary:

I liked my Jeep's first 150,000 miles

Faults:

The engine blew at 145,000 miles and had to be totally replaced.

Had to replace speed sensor, motor mount and constant velocity joint at 151,000 miles.

Replaced the rear brake discs at 135,000 miles.

Replaced the front end struts at 105,000.

The air conditioner stopped blowing cold air after 6 years due to a very small leak. I had the freon refilled twice, but it only lasted two to three weeks. I'm planning on using the black die method used by mechanics to find the leak.

The steering wheel has worn badly.

The back passenger door power window can only be controlled from the door control.

I'm on my third battery in seven years.

General Comments:

This car is very powerful and has performed to my satisfaction. It handles very well for a Sports Utility Vehicle, but has diminished once I got over the 125,000 mile mark. I wish it would break a little faster too.

The car is very comfortable and the driver has a good perspective of the driving horizon.

It averages 17 to 18 miles per gallon according to the Jeeps on-board computer display, but I do drive it in a lot of stop and go traffic.

The interior has aged well, especially the leather seats.

The exterior is stylish and also looks good for a seven year old vehicle.

The last year has been difficult with the maintenance costs of adding a new engine and other minor expenses. I'm paranoid that my transmission is going to go next.

Even though the maintenance costs have gotten high since I've hit the 150,000 mile mark, I like my Jeep, and don't want to put another $35K into another vehicle.
