1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.0 i6

Summary:

Dependable Vehicle prepare to spend money

Faults:

To start off I love my jeep. I have put a lot of money into it due too many electrical problems. Wires had to be replaced and lights always go out. Annoying rear lamp failure message comes up occasionly when all the lights are working fine.

I have replaced the A/c Compressor-600$ at (120,000).

I had to get all new motor mounts because they had broken somehow (60.000).

Replaced the stereo due to the fact that buttons didn't work and cd's would get stuck. The rear speakers were replaced due to a blowout. Front speakers are immaculate.

Air conditioning had problems from the start. Replaced entire a/c system (dealer) (1yr of ownshp). i6 engine is very good, decent on gas.

Transmission was fixed at 90,000 and new cat (1700)

Currently rear shocks and struts are old and need to be replaced, very bumpy ride. Problem, only upcountry suspension can be replaced on it. Also my exhaust manifold is cracked, (headers) and I don't know if I should replace it, the noise it not that loud and I don't know if it is affection my engine.

General Comments:

Due to a 2 inch lift kit (stock) up country suspension I feel as if I could tip very easily.

My i6 engine is very good and I was told by my mechanic that it is more reliable than the V8. Due to the fact that the transmission is a foreign piece. My friends v8 tranny blew after 80,000. on the 98 model.

The interior is the most comfortable car I have ever sat in. Very soft and extremely comfortable.

Steering is very loose and wheel cannot be turned fully in one direction due to a loud grinding noise, which I don't like hearing. 4wd transmission works well, but sometimes interfered with my power steering. Also when engaged in 4wd front wheel create noise.

Very smooth ride on the highway tires run quiet and are very durable. I have Wrangler GSA- (stock)

Rides extremely well in snow never have had a problem.

Exterior is very strong, have been a couple of accidents with it and dents are minor.

Moon roof is very large and is great to have.

Have had problems with the transmission on hot days when it does not shift out of second.

Also had a problem at about 125,000 miles where the entire engine would cut off at any speed. It was scary, mechanics didn't know what it was. Almost sold car. Then it stopped never happened again.

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 V8

Summary:

Great car, will do it again

Faults:

So far so good. Only problem I had was the air conditioner compressor froze up and had to redo the whole system, which cost me 1400 dollars. Not too bad.

I did have a little whine in the front axle. A little lube took care of that problem.

General Comments:

Great Jeep product. If I had the money to spare, I would buy a new Grand Cherokee again.

The Liberty is completely different from the Grand Cherokee. I'd get one. I wish I had known a year ago that the Liberty Diesel was comming out, I would have waited.
