2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited V6

Summary:

It would be cool to see crushed by a monster truck

Faults:

The rotors have gone out twice now the dealer charges over 400 dollars to replace them and I did it myself for 65 in an hour.

Both driver and passenger windows went out within 3 days of each other 700 dollars to fix.

The driver side heated seat never worked.

Both of the rear shocks and rear axle seals are leaking at 45000 miles.

There is a really bad creaking/clunking noise coming form the front passenger side the dealer can't identify it.

There is something wrong with the rear differential, again they can't identify it.

The lights with flicker on and off even if there is no keys in the car and no one is near it.

General Comments:

I havn,t even put 20000 miles on the car yet and all this has went wrong. Are you kidding me?? I WILL NEVER BUY A JEEP AGAIN and I feel sorry for anyone who does. The only good about the jeep is the 4 wheel drive and the way it looks, but there are plenty other SUV's out there with the same qualities. I'm gonna go out and get one of those as soon as I can figure out a way to get rid of this crappie jeep.

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and mine also would light up on its own and stay on for an hour then turn off... no one was in or around the vehicle and the keys were not even in it.

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 2WD

Summary:

Never again!

Faults:

The alternator, the radiator, the water pump, cam sensor, coil ignition assembly and various other parts have all been replaced in the last 8 months. The car still leaks antifreeze (it has been pressure tested 5 times). Last week I was driving on a bridge and the car just shut down. I coasted to the feeder, but 65mph to 0mph is pretty scary. The car had to be towed. I have spent $1000- in the last 3 weeks, and have exceeded $2,000 in the last 8 months. It is totally ridiculous!

General Comments:

I will never buy another Jeep! Please take caution when considering a Jeep.

I have experienced the same problems with my Jeep!

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8

Summary:

This is a strong SUV that performs as advertised

Faults:

The leather trim on the steering wheel has begun to deteriorate, despite Lexol rubdowns.

The heating element in the driver's seat had to be replaced at 35,000 miles.

General Comments:

The dealer recommended cleaning the manifold and valves at 12,000. This "service" was $300 and consisted of pouring some additives into the fuel tank.

I find the seat position to be uncomfortable on long drives. The front edge is too high and cuts into the back of my legs. It is difficult to find a comfortable tilt to ease this problem.

It performs as advertised. We drove it through deep snow without any problems. We had to look back at the ruts to confirm that we had indeed gone through a snowbank.

The interior is roomy and comfortable, and (except for the aforementioned seat problem) fun to drive on long trips.

It can carry an impressive load of luggage, and I have not even used the roof rack.

Trips to the recycling center are fewer and easier with the large cargo area.

Gas mileage with the V-8 and 4WD is beginning to pinch at 16MPG, but we bought it for its carrying capacity, not its fuel economy.

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Faults:

I have owned 2 Jeep Grand Cherokees and this will be my last. I have had nothing, but problems with both, and why I bought a second one is beyond me.

I have had all the Roter & break problems covered under warranty and not under warranty, sensor lights, Power Window... you name it!

At 40,000 miles my engine is completely shot and needs to be replaced. Jeep said "oh sorry the warranty has expired" and there is nothing they can do. I have had my car only serviced by Jeep dealers since it was new. I was quoted a price of 5500.00 to replace the engine and the air conditioning because when the cam shaft and push rods broke it went through my air compressor.

WILL I EVER BY ANOTHER JEEP??? NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!!

Chrysler does not stand behind their product... BUYER BE AWARE!

I am sorry to hear that you have had problems with your Jeeps... personally I have owned two and have enjoyed both of them - and they have both saved my life! The first was a used 1997 or 98 Grand Cherokee (actually my husbands) and I was in a serious auto accident. A teenager was speeding, ran into the back of my Jeep and pushed me about 1/2 a block down the street (I was parked). It took two tow trucks to separate his grille from my driver's side wheel well, but I walked away from it with only whiplash. I was in another accident (person ran a light in front of me) in my current Jeep when it was only a few months old. Again - only whiplash! It was purchased brand new and always serviced at the dealership also. No problems! (Just an aside, when reading this form, it said that entries would not be accepted with incorrect grammar or spelling... you might want to spell check your entries from now on - break (brake), their (there) and by (buy)...just a suggestion and no offense intended.) I love my Jeep - sorry you haven't had such a nice experience as I have had.
