2000 Kia Sportage EX
Summary:
Not a bad vehicle for the money
Faults:
Initially, the interior lights didn't work. Dealership figured out the problem and replaced the interior wiring.
I have maintained the vehicle relatively well, although not perfectly, changing the oil, transmission fluid and lubrication when recommended. This was the first vehicle that I ever purchased new, and it has performed well so far.
It has been a good vehicle for my wife. The Sportage has been somewhat under powered, but reliable.
Recently, (39,000 miles) I had to replace the drive shaft, it was making a metallic grinding sound. I would not consider it a major problem after almost 40,000 miles of service.
I find it a shame it has such a questionable reputation or I would highly recommend the model to others.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Replacing a drive shaft at 39,000 miles? This is not a major problem? Well, it might not be major, but this kind of repair shouldn't be needed at 39,000 miles... that's like a water pump going out at 15,000 miles...
