2002 Land Rover Freelander S

Summary:

Poor value and costly to repair

Faults:

Poor Value and costly to fix.

Buyer Beware.

The Freelander takes twenty two minutes to heat the interior adequately and the distribution leaves one foot frozen and the other too hot.

If any warranty part needs replacement, you will have to wait at least two to three weeks. Land Rover in Montreal as well as most Canadian cities does not stock most parts other than bulbs and bumpers. They will not provide a courtesy vehicle for that period of time so good luck if your car needs the specific part to operate.

General Comments:

This car is a lemon. The best advice after learning my lesson is to stick with the Honda Sport utility vehicle.

The mileage is terrible at approximately 380 kilometers per tank.

There are a lot of noises coming from the rear driver side.

Do not waste your hard earned money.

The headlights have to be constantly cleaned as the plastic casing heats up and collects and drys all the road grime on the lens.

The window controls are poorly located.

The cup holder is not only useless, but could serve as a danger as it is too high on the dash and cups can easily fall on to the driver when the break is implemented.

The seats have poor adjustments.

The list is endless and there are other vehicles on the market that offer significantly better value.

This is complete bogus! I own a 2002 Freelander and like it a lot. It's very robust has nice off-road properties, and looks just great. Sure the latter is not very objective, but who drinks hot coffee while going off-road? It's rather small engine feels superb, fuel consumption is justified, and the interior is extremely nicely isolated from street noise. Sure the window controller are a little awkward, but so what, I don't play with them anyway and one gets used to it, too. My conclusion is that the Freelander is a very close to perfect hybrid for off-road and every-day use. Have fun!

Summary:

A vehicle you will be happy you purchased

Faults:

I have not had any problems with this car.

General Comments:

This car is quick enough for a sport utility vehicle.

I read many reviews and test drove many different utilities before choosing the Free-lander.

This vehicle is awesome.

Few reviews mentioned the lack of size or storage in the Free-lander. If you want a huge vehicle, buy a different vehicle which gives you 13 miles/gallon. Buy the Free-lander if you want a mini-luxury utility. You will be happy with your decision.
