1992 Lexus LS 400 4.0 L V-8

Summary:

A world class car with unbeatable reliability

Faults:

The car has performed flawlessly. I did have the rear shocks replaced, but that resulted from the poor roads in my area. Also, the LCD screen for the heater controls began to leak, and was replaced for $400.

General Comments:

The car is simply wonderful, with bulletproof reliability. This car looks as good as any new model out there. Although the leather is somewhat lacking, it is still very comfortable.

I loved this car so much, I bought another LS400, a 1998. But, I still think this one is the looker of the lot. This car's performance is simply outstanding!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

We just bought a '92 LS 400 2... and it drives like a queen... but the time and temperature LCD display on ours is messed up... besides that... everything is perfect...

Also, the extra tire in the trunk is a full size and extends all the way to the back... so there is no room for a SubWoofer box.

I've owned my '92 LS400 since '98 and I can honestly say that I've had absolutely nothing going wrong with it.

Best car I've ever owned! I will replace it with a newer model LS400, I don't care too much about the design of the new LS430.

The thing is it runs so well that it may never break down... but not to worry one can't get bored with it!

I am the second owner of a '98 LS400 bought from the local dealer after having been returned when a lease expired. The built-in K-40 front and rear radar detectors helped to sell me. Previously I had only bought M-B (new), but the unpleasantness of dealer service caused me to abandon the make. Incidentally, Benz offers only a 1 year warranty on its certified used cars; Lexus gives 3 years, 100,000 miles.

That says a lot about what the manufacturers think about their own products. The longer I own the Lexus, the more I like it. All Benzes have relatively precise and crisp handling. Lexus notably lacks this, as many have stated in the various reviews. I increased the tire inflation pressure to 33 lb./sq. in. and noticed marked improvement.
