1991 Mazda B2600 i 4x4 extended cab 2.6 litre

Summary:

Japanese quality in an awesome little 4x4

Faults:

General maintenance, and front main bearing and radiator when I overheated it. Broke a few leaf springs overloading it.

General Comments:

Amazing truck, goes anywhere, best 4x4 I have had. I was a self-employed construction contractor when purchased and I expected to keep it 2-3 years max. It just kept going and I have kept it like a loyal old horse. Drove it down to Mexico, and now it sits down there and starts up every year when I return. My new Silverado gets better gas mileage; it is thirsty.

1991 Mazda B2600 i 4x4 2.6L

Summary:

Best of the best

Faults:

Hmmm... hmmm... changed the master cylinder once and the CV joints; needs a valve cover gasket and will be replacing the muffler system in the near future. But then, none of these are things that have "gone wrong", really.

I've never had any issues, at all.

General Comments:

I expect this truck is at its half life. Regular maintenance and good driving habits keep most vehicles going a long time, but my 2600 is exceptional. I drive it every day and upkeep on it has been much less than $100 a year.

About half my mileage is highway, which helps to keep the sludge out and off-road, I'm not sure it could get stuck. I've used it in the BC mountains and Saskatchewan mud and never had a problem. I keep referring to it as my go anywhere, do anything truck... like the Paso Fino of pickups.

As far as I can see, it has been appreciating a couple hundred bucks a year since I bought it, though I have no interest in selling it... unless... haha.

1991 Mazda B2600 4x4 EFI Extended Cab 2.6 litre

Summary:

Amazing pickup

Faults:

Replaced master cylinder... Hmmm, need a new windshield.

General Comments:

I'm surprised there aren't many recent comments. This truck is excellent. Undoubtedly one of the best trucks ever built. 4x4 goes anywhere.

Still no major rust issues after 24 years, no major problems. Mazda got it right in 91/92.

1991 Mazda B2600 LE-5 2.6

Summary:

I wish Mazda still made these trucks!

Faults:

Replaced head.

Fuel injectors.

A/C system.

Some interior parts as they wear out.

General Comments:

I've owned the truck since I special ordered it new in the summer of 1991.

250,000 miles and still going!

I've replaced what needed to be replaced, and it keeps running well.

Even with its age and mileage, it rides smoother than any new "small" truck of any brand.

Much roomier interior than any new small truck on the market today.

The automatic transmission is described by my mechanic as "bullet proof". I have had absolutely nothing done to the transmission, other than having it checked occasionally.

It sleeps in my garage every night. The exterior finish is still shiny and there is no rust. Many people are amazed at its condition... there's no secret to preserving a car; just use your garage for the purpose it was intended for!

1991 Mazda B2600 B2600i extra cab 4x4

Summary:

No nonsense 4x4

Faults:

Replaced the fan clutch.

Replaced clutch 2 times.

Computer died 70,000k ago, $500.00 for a re-soldered board.

Mazda wanted $3200.00 for that part, glad I didn't buy.

Has some rust, door panels, etc.

Looks a little rough now.

General Comments:

Hauled lots of stuff... gravel, firewood, lumber, etc.

I just love the low gear, you can crawl up any steep hills.

It's not fancy, it's basic and bloody reliable.

Spent nothing on engine, tranny, and running gear repairs.

I have changed oil frequently since new.

Front seats still look good, no splits or separation.

It would be hard to go back to a Mazda since it is Ford.

If you can find one with low k, you won't be disappointed.

1991 Mazda B2600 i

Summary:

This is one powerful and fun truck!

Faults:

The truck is nearly 18 years old. It has had some things go wrong, some due to the fault of the owner. The important thing though is, every time I get it repaired, I don't even care. I just want to get back in and drive! I usually have to get something fixed every year (as you'd expect at this age), but I don't mind. I love this truck!

General Comments:

This truck is awesome. The best thing about it is how much power is still has. It's just fun to drive in! This truck was not built to insulate sound so you can hear everything, even in the interior. It just is so much fun. I hope it has many more good years left in it.
