1993 Mazda MX6 LS V6

Summary:

I adore this car!!!

Faults:

The RPM's jump around on occasion.

I think the transmission is going out.

Passenger power window motor grinds.

Sunroof motor is killing me slowly.

Gas tank cover sticks.

Trunk lid rattles at high speeds.

In need of front brakes.

No A/C, there is something wrong with the fan, or pump, or something says my dad... he advised me not to run it! This sucks seeing as I live in California.

Someone had the whole dashboard removed for an unknown reason.. other than stupidity (I think they removed it to add a very worthless after market stereo).

I was cheated on the famous Mazda spoiler I had so fallen in love with. I got a very stupid looking "wing" thing!

Worthless after market stereo cannot have the volume adjusted by the volume knob on the radio.

There is a small ding I would call it in the windshield, and passenger window.

Trunk does not stay open... one day it will send me to the hospital.

Paint is discolored and sad looking as I have a major thing for the color silver.

Annoying light comes on when I press the brake, it says "rear", no clue what that means.

Absurd amount of miles!!

Seats awful in condition, color, and smell!

General Comments:

A little background. The 1999 Mercury Cougar I had before this was Repo'ed from me in March. I found a dealer who allowed me to make payments on the car without looking at my credit. I jumped on it.

A friend of mine has a black one and I adored her car, so when I was given the chance to own one I was estatic!!

This car has not been loved or taken care of for at least my guess would be 4 years!

I will change that.

This car is seriously good looking where the body is concernend.

Which is nice becuase I am used to driving a Cougar.

I adore this car, and with a little love and repair it has potential.

These are the MOST comfortable seats I have been in since my dad's F350.

This car is quick! I was amazed.

I get compliments on this car despite the year and ungodly paint job.

Still looks amazing for a '93!

The "rear" light that comes up when you step on the brakes means that you have a bulb either out or the wires are messed up.

Or, if you're battery/alternator are getting weak.

1993 Mazda Mx6- Had to slam on brakes yesterday and few minutes later, the "Rear" light on my dash comes on when I press the brake. I just put in a new battery, so I should be looking for a weak alternator or a burned out brake light bulb? thanks for being so knowledgeable.

1993 Mazda MX6 LX 2.5

Summary:

Gorgeous car!

Faults:

Air conditioning system broke down two years in a row for different reasons.

General Comments:

Simply put (and in my opinion) the MX6 is one of the two most stylish mass produced cars in the past ten years (the Audi TT I'd say is the other one). I got mine in green with understated spoiler and tan leather interior and still looks great (this despite assorted dings from living in NYC).The car is also very well designed from an ergonomic standpoint, very comfortable, especially the seats and steering wheel. And very fast, especially (as with most Mazdas on the highway). I bought it with the automatic transmission, which I know has received very poor reviews. It has always shifted a bit harshly at low speeds (up to 40 mph) but is ferocious and smooth on the highway.

1993 Mazda MX6 LS 2.5 DOHC

Summary:

One of the biggest Mazda lemons

Faults:

Distributor cap, distributor rotor, spark plug cables, spark plugs, power seat, power sun roof, engine oil gasket, brakes pads worn really quick.

General Comments:

When I first bought this car back in June of 2003, I thought it was going to be one of the best cars I could get for my money, instead it's been like a nightmare for the last 2 weeks.

In the beginning it was perfect, running good and strong with all the luxury features of the car. It couldn't get any better, but 2 weeks ago the car didn't want to start anymore and since then I have no car. 5 different pleople have tried to fix it and guess what? They can't find what the problem is! This was a dream car that has become a nightmare.

I bought a new 1993 MX6 V6 in 1992, and though I have had to replace distributor parts, wires and plugs, and O-2 sensors, my car has been one of the nicest, faithful cars I have ever owned.

Has a dealer looked at the car, or is this just you and your buddies trying to get it to run? It does seem silly to blame a 11 year old car (with how many miles??) for breaking down.

Get a decent mechanic to look over your car, maybe it can still be the sweet car you hoped. Mine certainly is...

They already fix it and I'm so happy they did it 1 week after I posted this "review" and now I just love this car!
