2006 Mercedes-Benz B-Class B200 2.0 gasoline

Summary:

New or used, this is a great little car

Faults:

All five doors and the hood rusted through, and were replaced under warranty n/c.

Front driver side wheel bearing went at 77,000km; also replaced under warranty.

Front passenger window sill replaced under warranty.

Interior trim rattle above driver sun shade (easy self fix).

General Comments:

I really enjoy this car much more than I expected to. It has a solid feel to it that makes you feel safe. Road noise is quiet, the seat comfort is terrific even after hours on the road.

I recommend the panoramic roof, which really transforms the interior, letting much light in. The materials are of the highest quality, and aren't showing any signs of wear.

The fuel economy is great. I average 7.1 l/100km city hwy combined!

The autotronic transmission takes some getting used to, but delivers smooth acceleration.

My only complaint would be the limited capacity of the stereo. The clarity and imaging are great, but there is a lack of richness to the sound. It wouldn't have taken much to make it better, and it's a shame Mercedes didn't make the standard equipment better.

Wait, all the doors and the hood rusted through in a couple of years?! And you think this is a great car? If you are accurate about the rust, then I would hazard to guess that the B200 is probably the worst vehicle you could buy. Sure the warranty saved you, but if it had taken place after the warranty period, I doubt you would have been happy. Mercedes is not the automaker it used to be.

Lots of cars have issues -- and this particular issue was addressed by the dealer.

The Datsun B510 rusted -- but it was bombproof.

Let's not go overboard.

Summary:

My overall experience of owning a Mercedes has been embarrassing, frustrating and disappointing

Faults:

Non-disclosure of vehicle sold by MB dealer as star-certified, pre-owned.

Evidence:

- Hatch wouldn't open - hinges had to be re-aligned, locks replaced and be repainted.

- Car out of alignment (toe and camber), tire outside shoulder down to 0 in less than 3,000 km.

- Bumper cracked & painted over.

- Evidence of re-painting of front end.

- Damaged inner fender, missing bolt.

- Makes a noise when turning left - needs a differential.

- Service history of transmission repairs, rear window replacement and front springs repaired not disclosed at time of purchase.

- Dealer network unreliable - will not correct issue if you purchased from a franchised location.

General Comments:

Nice car, but dealer and manufacturer difficult to deal with.

Well, it seems that your car was involved in some kind of accident. These are very good cars, great handling, good performance, well built, so what you report sounds as something wrong happened to that car. What is indeed bad is the dealer, a pre-owned certified, shouldn't be like that.

Hope things will solve for you.

Summary:

Great car

Faults:

Emergency flasher got stuck, could not turn them off. MB road assistance came, and an update of the on-board computer resolve the problem.

Otherwise all is good and it looks like it will stay this way for a long time (good quality).

General Comments:

Nice handling for a car this high, The room inside is amazing for the footprint.
