1993 Nissan 240SX SE 2.4 Litre

Summary:

This car is well above average in terms of performance, reliability, low cost and looks

Faults:

Starting to rust in places that are difficult to repair (door hinges, rocker panels, rear of hatch, windshield seam, etc.).

Intermittent wiring harness problem that disrupts a critical signal. It causes severe power loss and car stalls when at idle. Can fix it by jiggling a particular part of the harness (still fully sealed, never tampered with) - very odd problem.

A/C died.

Cruise control died.

Gas filler neck corroded to the point of bad gas leak when filling tank. 6 year dealer warranty covered it though.

General Comments:

Bought this car 5 years used and have driven it for over 3 so I guess I can expect things to break. Problems listed in this review aside, this car rocks.

Great acceleration, especially at high RPM (as expected). Pickup from rest or highway passing both impress me for 4 cylinders.

Brakes are impressive. They'll save the nose of the car every time.

Handles incredibly well. I'd be tempted to take on a Porsche any day.

Seats are not good for the lower back, especially over long drives. Bring your own lumbar support because there's none here.

Reliable, reliable, reliable.

Porsche? getting a little big for our britches are we?

R/o though the 240 is a rockin little car.

The original comment was correct. Most naturally-aspirated 4 cylinders of any displacement are fairly gutless compared with bigger-bore sixes, eights, tens and twelves.

The only way to get a decent amount of power is to add a turbo/supercharger.

Naturally you mentioned the turbo version of the SR20DE, since the NA version doesn't pack much of a punch.

Why go through the pain of swapping in an SR when you can turbo the KA and have more horsepower and torque than the SR? I understand that it is the trend when tuning a 240 though, a lot of people don't realize how much can be unleashed out of the KA24, especially the DE.

1993 Nissan 240SX SE Limited Edition 2.4

Summary:

A low priced BMW

Faults:

The Oil seals leak. It started happening when I sent the car off road while accelerating up a turning hill during the rain. (Huge ditch, but the car came out like nothing happened).

Door panels are a little screwy since I first got it.

Antenna is stupid.

Plastic window to the convertible has glue all over it... = (

General Comments:

The car isn't really fast, but for a 4 cylinder she's got a lot of beef to her.

Lots of potential in the 2.4L and many upgrades available for the car.

She handles almost flawlessly on dry road and stops on a dime.

Seems to like being driven hard. The engine actually seems to sound and act better when the RPM is up? She can take a beating let me tell you.

She handles the owner greatly and I love it.

Yo I Have the same car it handles well I will tell you that super HICAS makes a difference when you rap a corner at like 110 and up. I have a RB 2.5 DETT in my car and I wouldn't trade it for any thing.
