1993 Nissan 240SX SE Convertible 2.4L DOHC Inline-4

Summary:

One of the few affordable, rare, sexy sports convertible

Faults:

Temperature sensor failure at around 113500km.

Cruise Control malfunction at 100000km.

Plastic convertible window started to crack around 110000km.

General Comments:

Meant for weekend sunshine cruiser, rear drive isn't fun in Canadian winter.

Rear seats are only for ladies, too small for guys.

Rear plastic convertible window can be a pain in the rear.

5-Speed manual transmission would be more fun.

Blind spot, hard to shoulder check.

Go ahead, let it rip, she takes a good beating.

Better looking than any other Japanese convertible in its year.

2.4 Liter engine gives lots of option for performance upgrade - 5-speed SR20DET.

Some might frown upon seal beam headlight units.

1993 Nissan 240SX LE 2.4 Litre

Summary:

A fast, very modifiable sport ride

Faults:

Many accessories were wired through the tape deck and when I replaced it, I had a hard time re-wiring all of the components.

General Comments:

This car moves like lightning compared to my old car, and it doesn't eat too much extra gas either.

The suspension could be tighter as I experience heavy body roll on tight, fast turns.

It has a beautiful, small, comfortable interior and is a joy to take long trips in.

It also seems fairly unique in my area so it gets a lot of attention.

This is the best car I have ever owned and I plan on keeping engine after blown engine.

1993 Nissan 240SX SE 2.4L I4

Summary:

Pretty high performance, but I wish I would have saved for a 300Zx

Faults:

The left rear brake was gone even though the dealer said it had 80%. They split the cost of the parts with me.

Air conditioning never worked, and will require upgrading to a new street legal system.

Cruise control never worked, and the factory tape deck is really useless, as the light display doesn't work.

General Comments:

This car has pretty good power in terms of acceleration, however it was a leased car before I bought it and therefore is governed to about 185 or 190Km/h. The speedometer only goes to 180Km/h and I think this too low because it reaches that speed on a flat quite easily.

Grey leather seats and black interior means it gets VERY hot inside and because the air conditioning never worked it is quite uncomfortable.

Handling is incredible, and this car loves to be driven hard.

1993 Nissan 240SX Special Edition Millenia 4 Cylinder Gasoline

Summary:

Low priced good looker

Faults:

My engine blew 3 weeks after I got it. It is still lying with the Mechanic. The cost of the new engine plus Labor almost equals the price which I paid for the car. Does anybody have any suggestions?

General Comments:

It looks sleek. I haven't had particularly good luck with the car. It maybe because the previous owner mishandled it. No room in the back seat.

I know how you feel. I bought a Nissan 240sx and 2 days later the engine blew. it took me 2 months to find a new engine because 1989,1990 engines are the only ones that will fit in the 1989 nissan. for a rebuilt engine it cost me $450 Canadian with 180,000km on it. I believe I lucked out because for the exact same motor with the same miles most junk yards were asking around $800-900 for a used engine. MAKE SURE YOU MARK OFF THE VACUUM LINES BEFORE SWITCHING OVER ENGINES!!! If you mess up your vaccum lines you might as well spend another $500 in labour costs of figuring out which line goes where. My car is still not on the road after 6 months of having it. I know the car has the potential of looking awesome cause I get compliments all the time, but sitting in the garage because it costs to much to repair does not sound awesome! my advice to you is look around everywhere for a cheap motor and sell the car when everything is done and running. good luck with you!!
