2005 Nissan 350Z Roadster Touring 3.5

Summary:

Great fun to drive, poor manufacturer backing

Faults:

Am I the only one who thinks replacing front brake pads AND ROTORS every 16000 miles, and rear tires every 13000 miles, is acceptable maintenance? I certainly don't.

Worse, when I learned that the early Infiniti G35 had the same brake rotor problem, and Nissan responded by

1) Giving a 36000 mile warranty on them, and

2) Fixing the problem in later years

I thought it reasonable that they do the same for the mechanically-identical 350Z.

Nissan's response: "it's a high-performance car, these are normal wear items...", in other words, TOUGH LUCK.

This is my 3rd Nissan Z in a row, and my favorite by far to drive, but if this is Nissan's way of handling a poor design, I'll never buy another one.

General Comments:

As a sports car to drive, I love it. Pickup, handling, comfort are great.

Limited visibility, small rear window (it's a roadster).

Limited trunk space (I can live with it).

Outrageous maintenance costs (see problems above).

2005 Nissan 350Z

Summary:

A rock solid ROCKET!

Faults:

So far, nothing has gone wrong. I've only had it for today, so obviously not enough time for something to go wrong. I'm hoping it'll be a LONG time before anything were to break.

General Comments:

I got a black on black version (cloth seats) from a dealer earlier today. It has I'd guess 20% tinted windows, and while driving you feel like you're 007. It just looks so MEAN and awesome, especially from the rear. I got a very good deal on it and would do it again in a heartbeat. I took it to a carwash/detailer straight away, and that really let it shine in her full glory.

Upon my first drive of the car, I was instantly impressed with the solid feel, the steering feedback, and just the thrill it immediately gave me. The roar of the engine is music to my ears! I love listening to my iPod and play it through an FM station, but with this car it's better MUSIC OFF, so you can hear that lovely engine roar.

If you are on the fence between this car and something else, by all means TEST DRIVE this car! It doesn't disappoint!

My last car was a 2005 Subaru WRX STi (US version) WR Blue with the gold rims, and no doubt it was a blast to drive. But being in the 40 and up crowd, it just got the wrong attention. Lots of young kids were always talking to me about it, but older folks tended to give very strange looks. Not that that mattered, right? But after the excitement faded a bit after 1.5 years of ownership, I was ready to try something else. I'd never owned a "Z" car and after watching many videos on Google.com, I was very impressed.

Now with my black beast Z, I feel I'm in another league now. I think the look of this car scares people and they just plain stay out of my way! Haha, I LOVE it!

The top of my post says 2004, when in reality it's a 2005. Not sure why that happened. Just a quick note - I can't drive this car enough! I'm thinking about driving it all the time when I'm not driving it, and when I do drive it it's hard to pull myself away from it. Even as I write this it's approaching 12AM, and I'm considering for the 6th time today taking it out for a spin. Crazy I know, but it's just so enjoyable! Never in my life did a car get me this excited.

Go Nissan!

2005 Nissan 350Z Touring Edition 3.5L V6

Summary:

I believe that for the mid to late 2000's, this car will be unmatched in looks, and performance!

Faults:

I have yet to have any problems with my 350Z since I've only had it for about 3-4 weeks!

General Comments:

Ever since the Nissan 350z was being introduced to the U.S. back in January of 03, I told myself I would get one. I live in Michigan and it's been 2 years, and now I got mine.

This thing is true to the way it looks and sounds.

The low rumble of the exhaust, which is stock, turns to a growl and is unmatched.

Handling around corners is fun, though when its wet outside it can be a little tricky.

The leather seats with the orange stitching is pure race inspired. This is a true coupe sports car.

2005 Nissan 350Z Enthusiast

Summary:

A nice sports car needing some fine-tuning

Faults:

When trying to accelerate as fas as possible, the car does not seem to respond as it should. Don't get me wrong the car is great, but not quite what it should be for a 287hp sports-car. Shifting is not as smooth as expected. Th factory installed radio (not Bose) and rear Clarion speakers are in no way what this car should have. The front door speakers are great.

General Comments:

The 350Z is all-in-all a good car, but Nissan still needs a little more fine tuning in order to get it to where it should be. It is a great car for highway driving, but not so great for city driving (stop and go). I am not sure what it is with the shifting, but it does not come close that of an Acura TL. On the positive side it has great handling, comfortable interior, and the mpg is not bad at all.

The acura TL and the Nissan 350z are two completely different cars. The TL is a "Luxury Sports Sedan" and the Z a sports car. If you want luxury and four doors - get the TL. If you want an unadulterated sports car, the Z is the best bang for the buck.

Your comparing apples and oranges. I suggest you study up before making comments like this.
