1993 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 4X4 King Cab XE 2.4

Summary:

Fun little truck

Faults:

My head gasket should be replaced. Needs a little bit of body work.

General Comments:

I like my truck a lot. I love the 4 wheel drive. I want to lift it up a bit and raise hell. Wish it was a little faster.

1993 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 4x4 Kingcab 2.4, 4 cylinder

Summary:

Japanese quality made in America.

Faults:

Alternator bracket cracked at about 20000 miles. It was replaced by the dealer under warranty.

The alignment geometry of the front wheels is not correct in correlation to a straight steering wheel. I have had the vehicle aligned several times to the manufactures specifications by the dealer and independent shops, but the steering wheel has never been straight from day one. On the up-side the the tires never show camber or toe wear.

The original Nissan battery finally failed after eight years of service in 2001. Incredible.

General Comments:

This truck was built in Smyrna TN. I had my doubts about the quality of this truck being made here in America versus Japan. But this truck has been and is extremely reliable. All I have had to do is the required maintenance service every three months.

The hills of Colorado definitely challenge the the four cylinder engine. So driving in third gear and patience is must at times. At a lower altitude this truck would probably perform better.

The interior has held up remarkably well over the years. I just put a little vinyl protectant every 3 months on the dash and doors and this has kept the interior looking almost as new as the day I bought this truck.

With regard to the exterior paint, it has held up well over the years with hardly any fading.

Who says Americans can't build a good Japanese car.

1993 Nissan Hardbody Pickup King Cab 4x4 V6

Summary:

A high value and strong bargain

Faults:

Speedometer cable broke at 150100 miles.

Sun visor plastic clips broke around 89,000 miles.

4x4 works, but grinds when making a turn.

General Comments:

This truck is impressive. The V6 is strong and the 5-speed transmission works great. The 4x4 also works great, but is best shifted into 4x4 mode when the truck is stopped, even though the manual says it can be done under 25 MPH. I have not had any other component replaced or repaired, not even the timing belt or an engine belt or the shocks, except for the tires, and they last at least 50k miles. I've used it off-road and to pull tree stumps, and it keeps on pulling. A damned good truck!

Gas mileage is a little poor, never more than 18 MPG.

The reason it grinds when you make turns in 4wheel drive is because your CV joints are popping! It might be too late to save them, but the grease boots on the nissan pickups have a history of busting so you need to look! But all in all that's not a very big problem!

1993 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 2.4 liter

Summary:

A tough truck that can put up with anything

Faults:

The alternator went out at 105,000 miles.

The starter went out at 112,00 miles.

The air conditioner lines started leaking and had to replace the hose.

The emergency break had to be fixed because it was causing the brakes to drag.

General Comments:

This is the second Hardbody pickup that I have owned. They are such tough trucks. They are sturdy, reliable, and strong. I love it. I never feel like my truck is aging.

1993 Nissan Hardbody Pickup Extended Cab 4 cylinder

Summary:

Nissan's jack of all trades

Faults:

Clutch at 110,000. My fault though.

Shocks at 112,000.

Vents were broken at purchase.

Air conditioner pump broken at purchase.

General Comments:

This truck is a great low maintenance vehicle for the money. It handles great and has good power under the hood. The interior is nice, but it lacks room for other passengers. Great truck for modifications. There is so much you can do to customize the look to your tastes. The body style looks good in my opinion and I haven't found one trace of rust yet. This vehicle is a blast to drive.
