2004 Nissan Quest SE 3.5

Summary:

Nissan Quest is JUNK

Faults:

Security system failed before I took delivery of the 1st van.

The battery went bad at 7 months; roadside assistance jump started, but if I shut it off it would not restart. They told me to drive it 600 miles back to Florida without stopping the engine for repairs.

All the interior lights have broken and fallen out.

The seat material is cheap, and came apart on 3 seats.

The paint peeled off at 11 months old; Nissan refused to warranty this; it looked just like the old silver American cars used to do.

Our 2nd vans security system has been defective several times; very expensive.

In 3 years it has needed 2 new batteries besides the original, totaling 3 batteries.

The radio will not pick up well at all; the dealer said they are all like that if you do not have satellite, and they showed us other Quest vans with the same poor reception.

Sometimes the key will not turn the ignition. We have tried everything; sometimes it must get towed for this. 6 times now.

Good luck if you choose one of these. I love the appearance and style, but it is not dependable at all compared to other vehicles that I have owned (Chrysler, Chevrolet and Toyota).

General Comments:

I would recommend Chevrolet, Chrysler, Honda and Toyota, but never another Nissan. They were the best I hear in the 90's, but are no longer worth buying.

Buy a chevy... your scaring me, they are so horrible it is unbelievable! I bought an 2006 uplander and get rid of it at 10,000 kilometers due to everything dying and stuff literally falling apart, and I am an easy old driver! I must say that the new 2007 sienna's are the best out there without a doubt, but are pricey. to replace the uplander I bought a cheap caravan with all of the discounts from the dealership and love it! At 20,000 kms, it is still problem free, as it should be! NEVER buy a GM made van PLEASE!!!

2004 Nissan Quest SE 3.5

Summary:

Best van there is!

Faults:

Timing chain tensioners replaced under warranty

Rear hatch opener came loose, bolt lost

Bolt covers on all arm rest continue to fall off and loosen.

General Comments:

We love our van. We have three kids and they love the DVD and Bose sound system. This van really handles well and is very fast, never leaving you wanting for more power. Lots of room, quite ride, smooth ride, audio inputs on DVD player for MP3/iPod players. Got 28MPG on trip to FL with van loaded with 4 children and all luggage. Love the sky lights. Many comments on overhead console.

2004 Nissan Quest SE

Summary:

Nice ride and features, but too many problems

Faults:

Where do I start, rattles, squeaks, and more unexplained noises that the service department thinks are all in my family's head.

There was a problem with the back door. The entire housing pulled loose one day.

The windows stick in the open position - not good when it is raining or snowing.

We replaced the back brakes and tires at about 24,000 miles and now at 27,000, we need front brakes.

There was also an acceleration problem that was fixed once and then it happened again.

Oh, I can't forget the overhead console falling down and hitting my husband in the head on the interstate.

This car has been in the shop more than 20 times for all of this stuff and I actually save up my complaints until I get about 3 things wrong at a time.

The drivers door wouldn't close one day because the handle was sticking.

General Comments:

We have tried to trade this car twice, but it isn't worth anything on trade. We are going to take quite a hit on it when we finally unload it on some unsuspecting buyer.
