1990 Nissan Sentra SE 4 speed

Summary:

A good work car or a good starter car

Faults:

The battery quit working.

It might need a new clutch or clutch cable.

Rips in the seats.

Large spots of rust eating through the body.

General Comments:

This car is extremely good on gas and ages very well. With a 4-speed manual it is OK with speed, but with only a 1.6 litre engine it shouldn't be very fast, but that's why its so good on gas.

It handles OK, but its lack of power sterring really makes hard corners a nail biter.

1990 Nissan Sentra XE 4-Door Sedan 1.6

Summary:

A very cheap and reliable little car

Faults:

Replaced left (first at 60,000 miles) and right (6-months later at 62,000 miles) drive-axles due to worn boot.

Replaced front brake discs (rotors) due to excessive warping. My brakes were shaking.

Currently the fifth gear will jump out while driving (problem began at 76,000 miles).

The engine surges a bit at idle. This is not a big enough issue, however, to make me take it to the shop for repair.

General Comments:

I purchased this car in immaculate condition (interior and exterior looked new) but with a "Salvage" title, from a friend who only drove it occasionally.

The salvage title was due to the car being in a flood in 1993, whereupon an insurance company wrote the car off as totaled.

This car is quick for it's engine size and so far very good on gas mileage.

The handling is stable, even in snow, with the right tires. I have new Michelin's on this one.

The windows have a tendency to fog up in rainy or cold weather. This is a nuisance since it forces me to run the air conditioner all year.

The cabin is not too noisy and the seats are comfortable, even during long trips. I have driven this car (without refueling) from New York City to Portland, main, only stopping for food.

The trunk is large. The only thing I miss is a folding rear seat.

1990 Nissan Sentra 2 door 1.6L 4 cylinder

Summary:

Good solid car for a cheap price

Faults:

I have had the battery go out on it.

The front headlight blew out.

Engine and transmission still fine and in very good shape.

General Comments:

This car is very cheap to run, runs very good.

Thsis car has 149,00 miles and is just getting broken in.

It is fairly quick with a manual transmission and is very good on gas, even though the engine is very small it gets me where I'm going with no trouble.

A got the car for 100 dollars and I expected it ot get me around for a little bit and not be a very good car, but it looks as if its going to get me around for awhile.

My dad is a longtime mechanic and he looked at and drove the car and he said it will probably run for another 100,00 miles making it about 250,000 and probably more.

1990 Nissan Sentra XE 1.6

Summary:

It has been the most economical/ reliable car I have ever owned.

Faults:

I have replaced the clutch.

I had to replace the plastic piece that holds the arm control of the windshield wiper. It had popped off, so the wipers would not work.

General Comments:

This car has gotten great gas mileage. I am still getting about 36-38 mpg in town, and about 43-47 mpg on the highway.

It accelerates quickly and has a lot of "umpf" for such a small car.

I loved my '90 Sentra. Best car I ever owned. Bought it used with 50,000 miles on it and at 130,000 miles all I did was tune it up once and change the oil and it ran well/flawlessly for all the time I owned it.

If that woman didn't run through a stop sign and cream my wonderful, little, dependable, Japanese car, I would have had it for a long time. I was so upset because I loved that car and it required so little in the way of fixing it.
