2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8 Special Edition 1.8

Summary:

Fun to drive, but in the shop every other week

Faults:

The first problem was a check engine light. Dealer blamed a faulty ignition coil.

The issue seemed to be solved until 20 miles later. The engine light came on again. The dealer got a downstream cat reading from OBD II and did not know what to do, so they reset the computer and sent me on my way.

Next the car over heated. Towed into the dealer. They replaced the thermostat. The dealer used a prob and got a 500 HC reading from the radiator. They knew something was wrong, but sent me on my way.

The engine light kept comming on. Driving down the road the engine lost over 80% of its power. At 3,200 miles the engine needed to be replaced. took a whole month to get the engine in.

Now I'm having a problem with the transmission. It likes to shift when it feels like it not when it is suppost to.

The transmission would not shift out of 2nd gear. I did have reverse neutral and park, but drive only had 2nd. Magically when the dealer looked at it noting was wrong, and blamed it on ice on the shift linkage.

General Comments:

This car does handle very well and the rockford sound system sounds great.

These cars are usuilly reliable, but I'm the lucky one who picked the broken one.

BTW the reason the engine went bad was because the factory forgot one of the compression rings on the #4 cylinder.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I have an '05 Sentra--transmission went out at 10,000 miles. The dealer replaced it--it then went out again 3,000 miles later. The comments you made about the transmission is exactly what my car did. You may want to have another dealer check it out.
