1994 Oldsmobile Achieva S 3.1L OHV V6

Summary:

It's my quick and sporty

Faults:

I bought the car knowing full well that one of the cylinder heads was cracked (My uncle owned the car so I knew it had been well taken care of otherwise, but it had been remedied with a temporary fix. About a year after buying the car, the fix blew, and I had to have it replaced for about 100 dollars.

110,000 Miles: Tune Up ($250)

General Comments:

The 160HP 3.1L V6 provides plenty of Power.

Front seats are spacious and very comfortable, but rear seats are somewhat lacking in legroom.

Steers very well.

I once ran the car to 100MPh and I don't doubt it could achieve the 120MPh Mark on the speedometer.

The 15 inch alloy wheels and spoiler along with custom chrome exhaust tip give it a cool, sporty appearance.

The radio is very easy to use and set, and the speakers provide good sound.

Cruise control is easy to use, and works wonderfully.

Green is a good color for this car.

1994 Oldsmobile Achieva S quad 4 SOHC

Summary:

Overall it is a fairly good car for the money

Faults:

The head cracked at around 63000 miles and the used car dealership I bought it from fixed it under there warranty.

Unfortunately at 71000 miles I found out that they used stop leak to seal the cracked head so I had it replaced with a used one for $750.

The door panels are coming loose.

The air conditioner compressor went out at around 70000 miles.

The coils went out as a result of the stop leak not working and soaked them with oil.

The clutch is starting to feel pretty bad.

It pulls to the right.

General Comments:

The main problem with the car is the motor I have heard many people talk bad about the quad 4.

It has taken quite a bit of abuse and held up decently.

1994 Oldsmobile Achieva S 3.1L V6

Summary:

Very quick and powerful, a great all-around car!

Faults:

I have not had very many/significant problems with my '94 Achieva. I can say that it is a very quick and reliable car!

The first problem I had was a slight whining/squeaking from the front drivers side. It turned out to be that the brake caliper was stuck on the rotor and wore down the brake pads. It then began to grind really bad before I could get it to the repair shop. The cost of the total repair; caliper, rotor, and pads was about $85.00 with a $40 service fee.

Just recently I have encountered a more complex problem. The tail lights and instrument panel lights do not illuminate when the headlights are turned on. The problem is said to be in the headlight switch. This repair was estimated to cost $120 plus a $40 service fee.

General Comments:

The car overall is very nice. I was commenting to my parents about getting me a smaller/compact car after I totaled my last one.

The front seats are very comfortable and adjustable. But, the back seats are very cramped on leg room.

A spacious trunk, plenty of room for equipment and other items.

1994 Oldsmobile Achieva SC 3.1

Summary:

Great car, sick of rain water leaking in

Faults:

Prior to purchasing, Trani was fixed, Rotors, Fuel tank.

Problem with A/C, have a leak somewhere.

Driver side window regulator bad, needs to be replaced.

Head gasket starting to go, high mileage so was expected.

Have a water leak problem, rain water leaks into the back seats, on the floor (yet to determine where it is coming from), also have some in driver seat, coming through firewall for that one.

General Comments:

Decent car, way better than the Saturn I had (engine died at 50000km)

Fast, reliable, handling is great.

I too have a 1994 Olds Achieva with rain water leaking in somewhere from behind the firewall. I haven't had a chance to remove the air intake cowling below the windshield to see where the leak is. A windshield installer told me that it is common for the 'heater box' to leak and often needs only to be caulked to seal it. I hope this works. I will try to update when I have a chance to get into it.

I've too had the same problem with water leaking into the drivers side of my car... how do I fix it?

20th Apr 2006, 23:33

The water is also leaking in my vehicle; however it is isolated to the rear drivers side seat. I found that after opening the door after a rain storm and looking at the rubber seal (on the top of the door frame).. it wasnt very effective. I could see the trail the water had left a path amongst the dust. The water wasnt significant enough for me to attempt to seal it. I figured since I never sat in the back seat... it wasn't a big deal.
