1989 Plymouth Gran Fury V8

Summary:

A horse of a car

Faults:

Would anyone reading this, believe that the only thing ever to fail, was driver's side rear power window today?

General Comments:

Nothing, and I mean nothing has ever failed on this car in my ownership. Not even a single light bulb.

It doesn't surprise me one bit. These were fantastic, excellent cars, like many of the 'full size' V-8 sedans of their era. Certainly better than anything made today.

We used these as taxis in the late 1990s - very reliable and durable.

Summary:

A very good buy if you can find one in good shape

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with this car since I bought it, except for the normal things like brakes.

General Comments:

With it's powerful 318, this car is very fast and it's handling is very nice.

It is a good car to just joyride in or to use as a work car.

This car is also very comfortable to sit in for long periods of time, and being 17 feet long, it offers plenty of leg room.

I used to drive a taxi and we used a lot of 1980's Plymouth Furies and Dodge Diplomats just like yours. Very reliable and stood up to a great deal of abuse. They also handled well and had great outward vision. Much more reliable than the Caprices we also used. The only drawback was they were almost undrivable in the snow - relatively light in the back for the 318's power. When the boss finally replaced them he tried all sorts of things, but the only one that ultimately worked out was the Dodge Spirit/Plymouth Acclaim.

Faults:

Water pump goes out all the time due to hard driving.

General Comments:

Cop car - it moves quite well (0-60 in about 7 sec.). Crappy mileage. Handling package makes it quite nice.

I agree. My dad also has one of these cars and it flies, but it does get bad mileage.

I have an 88 fury police car and it handles awesome especially with my new falken tires. Next mods will be a 518 OD transmission and a 392 stroker small block. Hope to put in some pictures one day..
