1993 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8L

Summary:

A must have vehicle

Faults:

Needed a new power steering pump when it was still under warranty.

Have replaced the alternator twice.

New radiator at close to 200,000 miles.

Replaced the front wheel bearings twice.

General Comments:

Simple, routine maintenance has made this the absolute best running car ever! Reliable, great running, powerful, economical, comfortable.

Have never owned a car that requires so little repair work.

This car has original engine, transmission, fuel injectors, struts and just about everything else.

Original paint still looks gorgeous!

Interior just as fantastic!

Maybe the best car of all time!

1993 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8 V6

Summary:

Great car

Faults:

My water pump went at 115,000 miles.

Rebuilt water pump went at 125,00 miles. It was under warranty.

Idler pulley went bad at 120,000 miles.

Left front wheel bearing went bad at 110,000 miles. The new one had something wrong with the anti-lock brake sensor. The new bearing went bad at 127,000 miles. It was under warranty.

General Comments:

I love this car. It is very comfortable to drive and ride in!

I have owned this car for over five years and plan on having it many more.

It has needed what I would consider normal maintenance and repairs.

Here is a list of the repairs I have done.

Muffler twice

Tail pipe

Battery

Serpentine belt

Front rotors

Front brake pads twice

Rear brake pads

Left front wheel bearings twice

Left rear wheel bearings

Spark plug wires

Spark plugs twice

Ignition coils

Inner tie rod end

Outer tie rod end

Left rear ball joint.

I have also had to solder the transmission cooler line where it rubs on its hanger.

This car is very reliable and has lots of power. I will definitely look to buy another Bonneville.

1993 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8L V6

Summary:

Best bang for the buck!

Faults:

Water pump went at 82,000 miles. I would have expected it to last longer than this.

Alternator and ABS sensors required replacement at 106,000. The ABS sensor was a bit pricey, but the traction control runs off of it.

Master cylinder replaced at 125,000.

Mass airflow sensor required service at 220,000. This was difficult to diagnose due to the number of sensors all new cars use. But once pinpointed, the correction wasn't difficult.

Transmission cooler line from radiator replaced at 225,000.

Rusted through behind front wheel wells where snow/salt hang off during winter. Buy flaps if you can.

Will have to replace the gas tank, fuel pump and sending unit at 252,500 miles.

General Comments:

What can I say about this car? It has 252,500 and still going strong. What do I need to say.

The car is a great balance between performance and economy and has been a great value for me.

Car is solidly built. Interior is above average. Good seats, only minor flaws in interior fits, trim, and noises.

1993 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8

Summary:

Comfortable reliable pimp ride LOL

Faults:

Over all great car! Runs great and no problems (knock on wood). Just normal stuff that you have to do like spark plugs, wires, filters, and muffler. Overall I have put $100 into it after I bought it 1 year ago.

Very roomy interior, leather seats are rock hard in winter, love the body style.

Would love to buy a newer one, but they are expensive. Just always remember that you get what you paid for!!! But they are well worth it!!

1993 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8

Summary:

Very good car for adults and teenagers alike

Faults:

The fog lights got busted out. I replaced them with new euro fog lights.

The transmission had to be changed because I race and play around to much.

Wears drivers side front brake pads down more quickly than the passenger side.

General Comments:

The car has very fast acceleration, once you hit about 80 mph it slow though. I had the car up to 110 mph, but then the speed suppressor kicked in and slowed it down.

The interior is very spacious, and is great for long road trips.
