1995 Saturn SC sc1 1.9

Summary:

A good used car

Faults:

Just normal maintenance brakes and tires.

General Comments:

It's not the quickest car, but it's reliable. It should have had more backseat legroom, but overall I love it.

I just purchased my Saturn last night and I just love it. My boss had the same model as mine and she loved it today she would have to this day, but her daughter was driving it and didn`t check the oil and the motor went. But I love the sporty feel and the ride.

1995 Saturn SC SC2 1.9L inline 4

Summary:

A mid-level performance sports coupe

Faults:

Alternator went out after whining for about three weeks.

Belt was changed 10K miles ago, due to normal wear.

Inside honeycomb for the catalytic converter has fallen apart and sits at bottom of catalytic converter casing. Makes the car burn a little more gas, but no major problem.

Sunroof shade broke and part to replace from a Saturn Dealership is really expensive.

Sunroof track wore out and had to be replaced.

Other normal wear and normal wear listed above has taken place as it would with any manufacturer.

General Comments:

The car has stylish looks.

The cabin is laid out pretty decent, and the seats are relatively comfortable, although the cabin is a little small for larger people.

Spoiler on body adds a nice touch to an already sporty looking body style. As well as the hide-away headlights.

Aftermarket parts may be added with relative ease.

1995 Saturn SC 1 1.9

Summary:

Overall excellent vehicle

Faults:

Sometimes I find that once the car is heated up, and has been driven for a little distance, the gears get kinda hard. But once I get out of first, it's Ok.

It burns a lot of oil, Which isn't bad because it's still a great car.

I find that it makes a lot of noise, and tends to have a lot of brake problems.

General Comments:

I love my Saturn. Going from an Mr2 to this Saturn, was a tremendous difference in performance and comfortability. Even though it has its odds and ends, and its problems here and there, it is still an overall excellent car to drive. Put an outstanding stereo system in it. And have added a lot of high performance racing gear to it, and sooner or later it will be all fixed up the way I want it, then I will be more satisfied.

1995 Saturn SC SC2 1.9L

Summary:

A quick, cheap, fun to drive little car that is wonderfully easy to maintain

Faults:

Engine coolant temperature sensor needs to be replaced.

General Comments:

I find that this car is a little rough riding, but the seats are comfortable. Although there is practically no room in the rear, it does not matter for this type of sporty car. I don't carry more than one passenger anyway.

This car handles great--very quick and responsive.

It is a beautiful car that looks brand new inside and out.

The only thing I am expecting to go wrong is the flip-up headlights--EVERY car I've ever known that had these eventually had problems with them.

I love the way everything is so easy to work on. There's no excuse not to work on this car yourself. The alternator is hard to reach, though, so I hope I don't have to replace that anytime soon.

The spark plugs and wires are easy to get to.

The oil filter is a bit tough to get to.

The transmission is great--instead of having to remove the whole pan you just take out the drain plug and it has a filter just like an oil filter. How much more convenient can you get?

Also, there is a drain plug for the engine block as well as the radiator. Easy to flush and fill your coolant.

1995 Saturn SC 2 2.2

Summary:

A great looking and running car

Faults:

The rails for the sunroof had to be replaced at 150,000 miles.

The starter had to be replaced at 175,000 miles.

The paint on spoiler had to be repainted at 150,000 miles.

The headliner had to be replace at 140,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car has been very reliable.

As stated above the major repairs have been minimal.

Car still has orginal clutch and engine.

The car has used a quart of oil about every 600 miles since the car had 50,000 miles on it.

The ride is good for long trips.

The car is still quick.

The car still looks new with the polymer panels Saturn uses.

The car still averages 33 to 37 MPG.

My 1995 SC2 still only has 110,000 miles, so I haven't experienced any of the above problems. Other than a steering pump that mysteriously broke while in for an oil change at the dealer, I've had no major problems since I bought the car new. Had to replace the head cover gasket a couple times, but that's about it. Still have original clutch, replaced brakes once, muffler twice, and tires three times. That's about it. Hope to keep the car another year or two, as I only drive around 10,000 miles a year.
