2001 Saturn SC Reviews from North America

Needed a new starter at 190,000 miles. Otherwise, just brake pads/rotors and tires.

Wanted to purchase a 4-5 year old car in '05, and found this '01 Saturn at a dealership.

Excellent car. Still running strongly eight years later. The only mechanical part that has needed to be replaced (besides tires, brake pads/rotors, and battery) is the starter.

Good MPG. 30 city, 38 highway.

I would buy another Saturn if GM still made them.

Heat shield cam unhinged, brake rotors, band which holds on muffler, a few check engine lights.

Noisy and slow.

Bought the car from a relative, cheaply.

I have had a Saturn before. They get great gas mileage and are usually very cheap to run.

Can anyone say that this car is in anyway refined?

Just a basic car. Like most GM cars, lots of noise and little go. But, cheap to drive.

- Leak in the main oil seal.

- Oxygen sensor had to be replaced.

- Intake gasket has to be replaced.

- Side mirror is glued on because it became loose.

- Automatic lock and unlock do not work inside the car.

- Interior light behind the speedometer needs to be replaced.

- Decent air mileage.

- No power going up hills.

- Really wide turning radius, which makes it difficult to park.

Eats oil and smokes.

The car is very small and does not handle as well as my Jetta... also I never had to add oil in my Jetta between oil changes, and it never smoked... Should have bought another Jetta...

When I purchased the car, it was revving high and making an odd sound, but it turned out to only be a sensor that cost a couple bucks to replace.

Also replaced the engine mount since it was worn by the time I got the car.

The motor for the sun roof burned out, and the cost to fix/replace it is too high to be worth it.

For what it is, it has great performance. It will definitely get up and go if you need it to.

The seats are not the most comfortable, and the noise inside the cabin is a little high, but that could just be from the aftermarket muffler.

At 70,000 the engine blew; 2000+ dollars.

At 72,000 had coolant was leaking, could ONLY get part at manufacturer 200+ dollars.

At 80,000, ball joint and tie rods; 612.18.

Really nice car to start out with. Although my problems that I've had with my car are to blame on the previous owner, which I wish I would have known about before hand.

If you take good care of this car, it will in turn do the same to you. Although I don't believe I'm EVER going to buy another American car.

I just can't afford to spend money I don't have in a car every few thousand miles.

Sunroof has locked once. Had to have that fixed, but does great now.

I have had the brakes replaced twice, and the rotors once.

The trunk leaks a little; can't find where it's coming from.

My valve body is messing up. That's to do with the automatic transmission. I have to have that fixed. It's gonna cost 300 dollars.

That's been the only problems I have had outta this car. I LOVE IT.

I love my car. It's great on gas and it has the get up and go for a 4 cylinder.
