2003 Saturn VUE 4 cylinder

Summary:

An overpriced poor quality vehicle

Faults:

Front Torsion Support replaced due to noise and binding.

Grinding rear wheel bearing.

Noisy Transmission. Dealer added additive.

Rear Strut Defective. Still waiting for replacement.

General Comments:

I bought this vehicle based on established "Saturn Quality". As a Supplier Quality Engineer I can say "Saturn Quality" has degraded. All of my problems occurred with less than 4000 miles on the vehicle and I cannot trust it.

Did the additive fix the noisy transmission?? Just what sounds was it making?? Please comment on the thread "notwithstanding the vibration issue..."

Thanks.

2003 Saturn VUE AWD

Summary:

I think it is the best car I can get for the money and I'm loyal to saturns

Faults:

Nothing. It is great!

General Comments:

I think the car is fantastic overall. It is a lot bigger than my last car, so I'm still getting used to it, but overall, I am very pleased. It has just the right amount of pick-up for me and handles very well. The car is very comfortable to drive and my kids are very comfortable with all of the room they have.

2003 Saturn VUE 4 cylinder

Summary:

Great vehicle if you love service departments

Faults:

At 5000km, the rubber around the windows in the rear began to come away and the window tint (installed at dealership) was already pealing.

At 17,000km a vibrating noise could be heard coming from the front left wheel. Turned out to be a bad wheel bearing.

One week after the wheel bearing was replaced, a similar noise could be heard from the right rear wheel. Service department determined it was coming from the right front wheel. It was replaced.

The noise was still present coming from the rear right wheel and the vehicle was returned yet again. Service department confirmed the wheel bearing was bad. I demanded that they replace both remaining bearings. It was agreed.

At approximately 27,000km, a creaking noise could be heard coming from the front of the vehicle when cornering. It was determined that a strut was causing the noise. Parts to be ordered and replacement done.

At 33,000km, the interior door panel (front passenger side) hooked the door sill and when the door was opened, busted the retaining clips off. Parts ordered and replaced.

At 34,500km, the linkage from the shifter fell off inside the console. Parts ordered and is in the shop for repair.

General Comments:

If this vehicle did not have the bad history, it would rank very high in the "pleasure to drive" area.

The cost of the vehicle is comparatively small compared to others in it's market, however, It is my belief that the lower cost was achieved using cheap quality parts.

It is a shame such a sharp SUV has not lived up to Saturn's standards.

2003 Saturn VUE V6 AWD 3.0L

Summary:

A great value, would definately buy again!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong so far, not a squeak or a rattle.

General Comments:

This car is a great value for the $. The plastic side panels mean I don't worry about door dings anymore. There is more headroom than other vehicles in this class, and it seems like there's more cargo room too. We considered a Ford Escape and a Honda CRV, but neither could approach the well-rounded balance of the Vue. It gets great gas mileage too. 22 mpg combined city/highway, 25 on the highway, pretty great for this type of vehicle!

2003 Saturn VUE AWDV6 VS

Summary:

Great SUV for the money

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the vehicle thus far.

General Comments:

This is my first SUV. I bought it because we needed a vehicle that could carry home improvement materials and home appliances. It serves this purpose very well with the split back seat and fold-down passenger seat.

Getting in and out of the Vue is so easy. It's "butt" height seating is perfect for my 79 yr old mother and my sister with back and knee problems.

I find the seats to be very comfortable for larger-sized people and for a small-SUV, it is very roomy inside.

It has a very comfortable ride and handles well. I like the tight turning radius - which is better than the Intrepid I drove previously.

The gas mileage was poor for the first 800 miles, but it has gotten better with each fill-up.

I love this vehicle!
