2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7

Summary:

Great Buy, but replace the OEM tires ASAP

Faults:

Remote Entry system failed and required replacement twice.

Tires wore excessively. (See Below)

The Bridgestone Dueler D687 are OEM tires that came on my Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7. The tires have good steering responsiveness, great ride comfort and the noise level is very quiet. The treadwear for these tires are completely unacceptable for a mid weight SUV. The Bridgestone Dueler D687's wore down to bald areas and were completely worn out at 15,000 miles. This tire size is not widely available and I ended up replacing the tires with another set of Bridgestone Dueler D687's which wore completely out at 30,000 miles (they lasted 15,000 miles). These tires might be acceptable for lighter weight vehicles. With a B traction rating these tires are dangerous when combined with a mid weight SUV. Recommendation: These tires should not be installed on mid or heavy weight SUVs.

General Comments:

The vehicle is built very sturdy.

It has plenty of room to carry up to seven people, however the third row seat does have limited space.

It has more engine power than other SUVs in it's price range.

The price is very good for a SUV with the features it has.

The vehicle has performed well in safety tests and gives you the comfort of knowing it is safe.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Kuhmo tires from tirerack.com (spelling on tires probably wrong). They are 59.00 each.

I have been using this SUV. Up till now I've only changed wear and tear items. No major repair till now.

It is a nice mid range SUV if you take care of it!

The only problem in Kuwait is the spare parts price!
