1995 Suzuki Sidekick JX 1.6L 16v

Summary:

I would buy another in a heartbeat

Faults:

This little vehicle has been incredibly reliable. I have replaced the normal "wear and tear" components, including clutch, brake pads, all fluids, plugs/wires/rotors. There are no mechanical failures to note. Even after 140,000+ miles, seats are still in excellent condition.

General Comments:

Originally purchased for my commuter vehicle, I have transitioned this vehicle to serious offroad use. It has been modified for severe offroad use, but still manages to be incredibly reliable. Plenty of room for a small family looking for an inexpensive vehicle to own and operate.

I have been so impressed by this Sidekick, that I purchased a new 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara Limited with Leather, a V6, etc. We are now looking to add a Suzuki SX4 to the family for my wife as her commuter vehicle. Suzuki's are wonderfully reliable, simple, and fun.

1995 Suzuki Sidekick JX 1.6 16v

Summary:

Can't go wrong with Suzuki!

Faults:

Like most 12 year old vehicles, the only things to "wear out" are the typical maintenance prone pieces. No major repairs/replacements to date. This vehicle has been the most reliable I've ever owned. I love it.

General Comments:

This is a great vehicle! Inexpensive to own and operate. Originally purchased to get to me and from work, I quickly realized how much fun it was to drive, both on and off-road. It now has a significant 9" suspension lift, 34" tires, air-locking differentials, skid plates, winch and bumper, snorkel intake. I have been amazed at just how well this vehicle performs. It has been an absolute pleasure to drive, and own! I'd buy more if I had the parking space!

Sounds like it's worth seeing an image?

Where did you find a snorkel?

1995 Suzuki Sidekick

Summary:

Cheap plastic interior, but reliable engine

Faults:

Interior has worn and cheap plastic pieces are breaking, such as door handles and window handles.

Speedometer cable broke.

Tail pipe rusted off.

Noisy Interior.

Windows don't roll down smoothly anymore - out of alignment.

General Comments:

Although the interior parts are cheap plastic, the engine of this thing just keeps going and going. For the money it is an extremely reliable car. This car has started every time in sub zero (negative double digits!) temps and I have put some hard miles on this little bunny. Lots of snow driving and high 4x4 rough alpine passes in Colorado, including stream crossings!

The clearance, light weight and short wheel base make it an excellent 4x4 rough road car.

It is certainly not a fast car, especially at altitude and the thin doors and roof are of concern in regards to safety, but after all I have put this little jeep through, I'm surprised it is still running.

1995 Suzuki Sidekick JX

Summary:

Being my 3rd One I Love these Sidekicks!

Faults:

Gas Meter tends to go bad, showing 1/2 full even with full tank.

General Comments:

Very quick response.

Great gas mileage.

Very reliable.

Bit of a rocky ride.

Staring shaky over 70MPH without the addition of steering stabilizer.

Addition of MSD SCI Ignition Controller really makes a difference in performance.

1995 Suzuki Sidekick JL 1.6

Summary:

A great SUV for the price

Faults:

Nothing major has gone wrong with my sidekick. I've replaced the spark plugs, but that was only due to the age of the Sidekick.

General Comments:

I love the sidekick. For the money it's one of the best SUV's out there.

I put a 3" body lift on with 30x9.50 tires and not it rides even better!

The heat will burn you out of the car in the winter!
