1998 Toyota Camry LE 2.2

Summary:

Long live Japanese cars!

Faults:

The A/C smells really really awful at times.

A little rattling from beside the glove compartment box too.

AWFUL pickup.

Factory radio ate my cassette and got totally stuck, had to replace it.

VERY wide turning radius, my 87 Accord had nearly half the radius of this car.

General Comments:

What a smooth ride! You can seriously fall asleep behind the wheel. The engine is so quiet. The factory speakers are decent, though you may want to upgrade them.

There is plenty of room, spacious gas tank, nimble handling.

N.B. - to change the coolant in the car, you have to remove that annoying panel in the front underside of the car. I just took mine off and threw it away, so I can access it later on. There is basically no point in having that piece of metal in the first place.

1998 Toyota Camry CE 4 cylinder

Summary:

Designed for people over 85 years of age!

Faults:

Suspension.

Steering.

Window rattles.

Interior materials coming apart.

Heater problems and so on.

Toyota has no interest in repairing anything. Dealer says Toyota does not pay them enough for service!

General Comments:

Overrated and overpriced car. Poor engineering, poor build quality, cheap and poor quality materials.

Poor suspension and steering design. Very weak engine (4 cylinder).

I totally disagree with your complaints about the Toyota Camry Car. I have had Camry's, Tacoma's, etc... and have had no (ZERO) problems since I have owned a Toyota, period.

I am certainly curious as to what you are comparing the Camry to, in a newsgroup you would be suspected of being a troll since your conclusions run completely against the grain of everyone else's experience.

1998 Toyota Camry CE 2.2 liter 4

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

The car is very roomy, comfortable, and reliable. The clutch is very easy to use also.

But the exterior design is ugly compared to the previous model.

You gave a performance mark of 10 out of 10 on a Camry CE with a 2.2 litre 4 cylinder? hmm... What other cars have you driven?

1998 Toyota Camry LE 2.2 litre twin cam

Faults:

There have been interior problems with the car since I've bought it, ie: Ceiling lining has been falling off, stains on the seats. In general, so far so good.

General Comments:

Toyota builds one of the best cars on the market today without a doubt. Even though their engines may not be the best on the market, they're ahead of the pack with comfort and reliability. With affordable prices, who can go wrong?

FYI:Camry was bought in San Antonio, Texas

I own a 1999 LE and it has had a couple of problems that can not be solved. Can anyone help?..

There is a rattle behind the glove box?

There is a thumping sound from the right front suspension when the ambient temperature is around 50 degrees fahrenheit, it goes away after a couple of miles??

If anyone can help please e-mail me at jeweler45@hotmail.com.

Thank you!!!
