2000 Toyota Celica GTS 1.8L

Summary:

For the money the GTS is one of the best cars I have owned

Faults:

Had the Injectors cleaned and it now runs like new. Before, when the engine was cold, it didn't want to run very well without having to rev up the R P Ms. Cleaning and servicing the injectors solved the problem.

General Comments:

This GTS is great fun to drive and when you get up to or over 6000 RPMs, it kicks you into another world. Sounds like the engine is running awfully hard, but it is just getting started. What a blast. Not many safe places to try it out however. I am so very sorry Toyota chose not to continue the Celica. It is my second one and I would have a 3rd most likely. I will just continue to love the GTS I have. It's a terrific little sports car.

2000 Toyota Celica GT 1.8L VVT-i

Summary:

It's a smokin hot sweet car!

Faults:

My Celica hasn't had any major machanical problems. The most that I have had to do with it was get new brakes. I have chosen to do additional work on it. I added crank and alternator light weight pulleys, a header, cat back exhaust, short ram intake, and sway bars. It handles great and is pretty quick too. I don't understand when people say the GT-S is better; I have raced them and I beat them. And I haven't had any motor work done. The only thing I like better about the gt-s are the 4 wheel disc brakes. Otherwise, the only thing that needs to be taken care of is my passenger side headlight lens, as it has some condensation in it.

General Comments:

Celica is a great car, because if you take care of it then it will take care of you.

Nice man. So now your 0 to 60 time is what like 10 seconds?

7th Oct 2008, 22:19

Actually it's more like 14.5 seconds on a down hill.

Seriously? You all are raggin' on his GT? If it's got the exhaust he says it does, and the intake, then he's got more than enough torque to embarrass a stock GT-S off the line... The 1zz only has 5 ft. lbs less to start with. A modded GT-S will still kill it though.

2000 Toyota Celica GT-s VVTLI

Summary:

I love it; just a few minor things that need work

Faults:

Well, this car does have a problem; when I get in the car and try and go, it is very sluggish. But once I had replaced the 02 sensor, it was better. This car has low end power, but if you change the 02 sensor and put an air intake on it, it will give it some more low end power and it won't be as sluggish. Also make sure the car is fully warmed up before you drive it. Because of the way the motor is built, the computer in it makes the car sluggish unless it is fully warmed up. Besides, it will save your car so much more if you warm it up, rather than driving it cold.

General Comments:

Hey, I have a 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S 6 speed. I let my boyfriend drive it and he went to a race; he went to throw it into 3rd gear, but he threw it into 1st gear at 65 mph and it went right into gear. Usually the syncros won't allow it to go into first gear, but when they are starting to get bad, they will go right into first gear like it was no problem. Unfortunately, this car has a bad transmission; its just not strong. If you throw it into the wrong gear, it will blow the motor. Luckily mine didn't blow; all I had to do was throw a new clutch on it, and to change the transmission oil and it was a lot better. My check engine light kept coming on, and all I had to do was change the 02 sensors and it was better. The 02 sensors get dirty a lot from changing the intake. But after all that, the car is running great (except for when I come to a stop--the car has a rumble like the idling isn't right, but the idle stays at 1 and it will just shake for a second and then its all better). If anyone has experienced this problem, please help me to fix the idling problem.

To the post above- Your car is idling weird because you bent your valves when you mechanically over revved the motor. And you burnt out the clutch.

Check your Throttle Positioning Sensor, that could be why it idles rough for a min. My Celi does it too. I cleaned it and it went away.
