General Comments:

I have owned many vehicles over the years, but have never had a vehicle that I liked as much as this Toyota T-100 4X4. It has been dependable, economical and fun to drive. I wish they had not stopped making them, I would like to find another one. Have had a few minor problems, but you have to expect some issues. Especially when you use a vehicle for what it is intended. Awesome, best truck on the market - even today. Go Toy!!!

1986 Toyota Long bed pick-up deluxe 22R

Summary:

It is super reliable and can handle high mileage before it ever breaks down

Faults:

Water pump, battery, front main seal, clutch master cylinder.

General Comments:

Fabulous truck for realiability. 143,000 miles and never been to the dealer for service. Never has stranded me, never fails to start. I highly recommend it. I have owned 3 previously and have same service from all 4.

1978 Toyota Long bed pick-up SR5 2.0L 20R

Summary:

Unbelievable

Faults:

Replace the clutch at 120,000 miles.

Replaced 2 sets of brake shoes.

Air-conditioner didn't work. Part to fix cost more that the A/C unit originally cost.

Replaced radiator.

Bed rusted badly. Toyota used dissimilar metal in joining the bed and frame so the least little salt and water and maximum rust.

General Comments:

Great little pickup truck.

I bought it 10 years old and sold it 13 years later for near what I paid for it.

Good all around local transportation, nothing fancy just reliable.

Started every time I hit the key, the first time.

Was keeping it out of curiosity to see how many miles I could put on it. Had to sell due to move. It is still running.

Very important to change oil and filter at 3000 miles. Piston blow by will ruin the oil and motor where nothing else will.

Summary:

Dependable workhorse

Faults:

Normal wear and tear (clutch, starter, etc.)

Has a nasty backfiring problem.

It likes to "diesel" when I cut it off.

Horn sounds like a dying duck.

General Comments:

This truck has three things going for it: Dependability, Dependability, and Dependability.

Much of this truck's reliability stands on Toyota's famous 22R engine. This engine refuses to give up no matter how hard or how long you push it.

I have an 87 toyota pickup has 253,000 and still runs great. Just rebuilt the trans, she will get over 300,000 easy!

I also have a '87 Toyota Pick-up, and 289,000 miles on her, she still running strong. She's lifted 8 inches on 35' Mickey Thompson with a standard 22R engine.

My 86 Toyota Truck has 450k miles on it and it's starting to backfire a lot, and I'm not sure how to fix it. Any comments?

I have an 84 Toyota Pickup with just over 580k miles, trying to get to 600k before my second rebuild on the engine. This truck has never left me stranded over the years that I have owned it, and I do NOT baby this thing. It's a 2wd that is lowered, and I do everything you shouldn't do with it. I kinda went 30k without doing an oil change. During that time, every weekend my normal load was in excess of 2200lbs. She loved every moment of it. I love this truck, and I will never get rid of it, period.

Faults:

Very little, the typical alternator, fuel pump etc. This truck has 140,000 miles (low) and I expect it to continue another 140,000!

General Comments:

Terrible on long drives, but it will get you there no matter what the weather.

I have an '83 Toyota and have never had any trouble, execpt for the coil which cost me a fair sum of money.

Other than that, it has been the ultimate truck. I would definitely buy another one even though I'm 6'4".

1983 Toyota p/u 22r engine.

Well, like most folks this has been a an outstanding vehicle. Toyoya's get old for a long time and this one is no exception. I have about 160,000 on it it an the old girl has never let me down. I have been in snow, rain, you name it, we've been there and came back in because of the sound engineering of the Toyota team. I've wanted to sell it at least ten times for it is tough on a trip, I'm six foot and weigh over two hundred, but every time I return from a hunting and fishing trip (once to Alaska) and way up in northest Canada. I just pat the old girl and do some PM work, change the oil and grease her and keep on truckin.
