2001 Volkswagen Jetta GL or GLS 2.0

Summary:

It's great, comfortable, and fuel efficient

Faults:

The springs on the bottom of the front seats have popped out.

A black plastic strip has fell out of the sunroof and into my lap (I have no idea what it is for).

The cupholders in the back don't come out (I honestly thought I had no cupholders in the back, that's what I get for buying a used car).

My airbag light came on one day when cleaning the interior, and has stayed on since (I've never been in an accident!).

My driver side window is hesitant to open at times.

The air flow from the side vents is almost non existent.

The lights on the AC/Heater Knobs have gone out

The side mirrors sometimes don't move with the control knob, I have to tap it a couple of times to get them to respond

General Comments:

This is my first VW, besides these little things that I have encountered so far I have to say that I love my car!

My next vehicle will definitely be a NEW VW Jetta!!

Can anyone help with the issues I am having...

The AC/heater knob lights going out (I'm thinking it is the fuse, but have no idea which one it is)

The plastic piece that fell out of the sunroof (what is it for/how do I get it back in there???)

PLEASE email me sagakontinues@yahoo.com, thanks again!!!

2001 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg 1.8 turbo

Summary:

Awesome

Faults:

Crayon smell and that's really all.

General Comments:

I see all these problems with the Jetta and it's making me start to worry. I have the Wolfsburg 1.8t and I haven't had a single problem except the crayon smell, but I can only smell it occasionally and when I do it's only a light smell.

Should I be worried, cause I just got my turbo flashed and I am flat broke, cause that emptied the wallet. Has anyone had a Jetta that hasn't had problems?

2001 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg 1.8 turbo

Summary:

Best car I have ever owned

Faults:

Window clips were a problem, but VW recalled and fixed them free of charge and extended the coverage on them for 7 years.

The car had that crayon smell, but spraying Lysol in the interior vent air intake as well as a product made for this problem from Auto Zone fixed that issue.

General Comments:

This is the best car I have ever owned. Seven years and 108000 miles and the car, inside and out, is in showroom condition and drives like the day I test drove it. I have had several check engine lights, but they usually go away. Most have been fixed by VW free of charge. I will buy another VW.

2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 2.0

Summary:

I would buy another one in a heartbeat

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong yet. In excellent condition for its age.

General Comments:

The car has great pickup and go.

Great on gas mileage.

Radio is kinda lame for a car this nice. Radio comes with a cassette player on a 2001, imagine that.

Very comfortable riding, and the seats are roomy and comfortable.

2001 Volkswagen Jetta GL

Summary:

Decent, but many small issues over the years

Faults:

The check engine light came on at 80K - took it to a mechanic and he said there was five different codes showing up. Recommended replacing the coolant sensor, and also found something wrong with the axle booties. Spent $500 fixing those things, and a couple days later the light comes back on. *$@!# - anyone have any ideas on how to proceed now? Don't want to go to the mechanic every week and fix one code at a time.
