2001 Volkswagen Jetta

Summary:

The Jetta is a good car, but I would like it better if it did not reak of crayons

Faults:

I've gone through 3 batteries and am now replacing the alternator.

The arm rest is broken.

The vehicle "famously" has the over-powering smell of crayons.

General Comments:

I love the look of my Jetta.

I like the space it has.

The overpowering crayon smell has made me nauseous and all us Jetta owners needs to call VW 800-822-8987 to report this annoying smell.

I like the power it has.

I like how it drives, very smooth.

2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLX vr6

Summary:

I love the car even with its minor defects and would buy another one some day

Faults:

I had a solenoid go bad on the car, resulting in the car not being able to move out of park. This ended up costing 50 bucks for a tow as well as 280 bucks to have the part replaced.

The car does not detect when my driver's door is open, therefore no lights come on when I open the door and there is no sound if I open the door with my lights left on.

My passenger side seat doesn't move forward or backward, something went wrong with the electronic switch.

My check engine light goes on and off all the time, ever since I've owned the car.

General Comments:

This car is definitely quicker than my last car which was a honda accord.

I'm sorry to hear that not everyone has the same luck with their jetta as i do with mine. However, i do try to take as good of care of my car as possible.

It also handles very well, even at high speeds. I had my car at 100mph and there was no vibrations, noises, or any other things out of the ordinary.

Some electronic glitches are odd and annoying, such as my climate control sometimes freezing up on me, especially in cold weather.

The back seat of the car definitely has no leg room, but since I'm the driver this doesn't bother me too much lol.

Overall I am pleased with the performance and looks of this car.

Buying a Jetta with this many miles is probably going to end up costing you a lot to maintain. These cars, especially up until the 2002 model year, have been notorious for repairs. 3 people I know have purchased Jettas, and they all regret it now (one had a transmission replaced at 10K). I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, but get ready to shell out a lot of money on this car

2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLX 2.8

Faults:

I am so glad to be on board with everyone. Bought my 2001 Jetta GLX from private party and thought it was a Lemon, but obvious now after reading everyone's comments.

- Front passenger side window refuse to come down

- Front Oxygen Sensor failed

- A loud creaking noise whenever I turn my steer wheels all the way left or right

- A ticking type of noise somewhere from the car, maybe the timing belt?

- Driver side bumper grille fell off

- Cupholder broke

- Armrest latch broke

- Rear Jetta Emblem fell off

- Right brake light refuses to come on

- And best of all, WELCOME TO CRAYON LAND, everyone that hops in always ask me, "You carrying some crayons?"

VW seriously need to get their acts together and fix some of these common problems. Maybe a class action from all VW owners would make them aware of the issues.

General Comments:

I will never buy JETTA again, it is a NIGHTMARE!
